Mantle might be benched
-
Not saying I will, but I've been placing him lower and lower in my lineup and I'm just completely out of sync with his motion and swing. Everytime he's up to the plate I get reminded of it, even when I get a good result. Now that Griffey is released, it might be time to move on.
I know that to many Mantle is considered as the best or second best card in the game, but I'm just not feeling it anymore. And with only 3 spots available one has to make decisions. Anyone feeling similar in this regard?

Nope. I felt that way about Mays at times last year though.
-
Mantles been my best hitter. Probably ever. He gets multiple hits every game. He's actually leading off for me

For me it's the other way around, I loved Mays. At the end of the day benching the collection reward feels kinda weird, especially because I have him prestiged and all, but I rather play someone I have confidence in.

When I look at my stats with him I often question my own decision making in this regard, because they look fantastic. But it's a confidence thing, I always fold in high leverage situations when he's up and whether it's because of the card or me it doesn't really matter.. I should play cards with whom I don't feel that way, regardless of the result. At least that's my perspective.

I’ve heard others say they struggle with Mantle. I know you’re pretty good and don’t need much advice. But with Mantle (mine is Prestiged too), I just look for high or high and in fastballs. Or stuff breaking down and in depending on the pitcher.
Think I’m batting like .385 with 80 HRs with him. He’s one of the best cards I’ve ever used

I hit over .400 with him as well, but like I said the numbers don't tell the whole story for me. It's about feeling comfortable about a card, and I haven't been in a while with Mantle.

Personally I'm going to keep him in with Trout and Griffey when I unlock him but if I had to choose I would definitely take Mantle out before Trout. In my opinion you should always go with who you feel better with over which player has better attributes.
-
Same man I benched him last week. Just can’t keep wasting AB with crappy results. Jim Edmunds mashes over mantle for me
-
Mantle is a lesser Beltran.
-
Mantle has been outstanding since I unlocked him, and even though I finally prestiged him yesterday, he might head to the bench when I get Griffey. I currently have Cobb, Trout, and Mantle in the OF and even though Cobb might be the obvious pick he has just been so [censored] good.
-
Mantle will stay for me. Griffey will be a bench bat and mays will push walker to the bench.
-
If he wasn't a switch hitter, he'd already be off my team. Don't get me wrong; he's still pretty good. It's just that where my best are a 10, he's a 9. Got Griffey, which pushed Walker off my team. If it wasn't for his switch hitting, it wouldn't have been Walker leaving.

I think Beltran's swing was way better than Mantle's.
-
I have reverse splits with mantle that make no sense, hitting 417 against lefties and 340 against righties, I've completely lost feel for him too, swing just feels slow. I'm stubborn as hell and haven't benched cause he's a collection reward...I can't say with certainty that I'd bench for griffey since I have to make lineup decisions with plugging in seager into lineup as well, but it's looking like I'm leaning that way anyway.

Beltran = best there ever was
Though I wonder if it were also that games play style. If you drop that exact card in this game would be be as dominant?

I believe that Beltran was the beat card in The Show ever, so I think very dominant.

Right behind Awards Trout imo, but yeah he would be great.

To be fair, Beltran probably knew what pitch was coming...

Completely user based results.. but Mantle has been absolute trash for me, MVP Trout has been hands down the best hitter I’ve ever used. It’s never the card, it’s always the user in my opinion
