I practice a lot playing the cpu as I’m new this year to the game. The past few days any runner I get on base steals without me ever touching the L2 button. They get an extra lead and then take off. It’s costed me a couple games too. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something that I can fix?

Check your game settings and go to base running options. You might have it on automatic instead of assist would be my guess if not blame it on the controller or the ai.

I had the problem where my runners would freeze when I hit a liner...I then found my finger would rub against R2 when I swing. Make sure your fingers are no where near the buttons. If that isn't the issue, Ryan24sherman is probably right.

I have a problem when trying to steal 2nd with a runner on third. Both runners always take off and the guy on third is always out at home. Defeats the purpose of stealing 2nd.

Just push and hold the left stick in the direction of 1B (or 2B if you want to steal 3rd) and then push R1 and only that guy will run. R1 sends all runners otherwise.

Thanks, I've tried that before and it didn't work. I must have hit R1 prior. I'll give it another try.

Yes! I have this exact same problem. So much that I'm at the point now where I don't even attempt to steal second with a runner on third anymore. I've tried doing exactly what it tells you on the screen during the game which is to push the left stick towards first and then push whatever button it is. I can't remember what it says, I thought it was R2 but it very well could be R1 like mentioned. I don't know why I can't get it to work but it is frustrating.

Try changing to classic baserunning and use the buttons and d-pad. Just remember that you don’t need to hold the button, just tap it to select the runner then press the d-pad direction to choose his destination.

Best baserunning interface. Never use L1/R1.
