Can anyone think of another 1st ballot sure fire Hall of Famer that has consistently come up as small in the playoffs as Kershaw has done throughout his career?

My buddy is a Braves fan and he was nervous before this game.
I told him not to worry Kershaw will blow it.

Maybe, but he was keeping them in it. 1 run on 1 hit isn’t going to win much. Their offense needs to wake up.

I get you, but then he has his one predictable bad inning.
    6th inning
    3 hits
    3 Runs
    0 outs recorded
LA is looking at a 3-1 hole.

Your friend was reasonable to worry, I know I was. Kershaw was undefeated against us in his career starts (postseason included).

It's the playoffs. Everyone has a stacked lineup.

If he wants to be considered an all time great, he needs to pitch great in the post season.
It might not be fair, but that is the standard baseball has used for over 100 years.

Momentum in baseball is tomorrow's starting pitcher.
Kershaw has the reverse midas touch in the post season
    I knew Kershaw would fold..

I've been saying that Kershaw has been washed up for a what seems to be a while now, especially postseason, and I'm from LA. I think that Kenley Jansen could also be included in the discussion of another Dodger that is washed up.

Verlander? The Same Verlander that dominated 4 straight years in the Playoffs? That Verlander? You cant judge him only on his 35 year old Astros years man

My 3rd guarantee is still a 6+ run 1st inning from Kyle Wright every time I gain some confidence in him.

He's probably referring to the Tigers World Series Verlander, who is simply horrible.

Verlander has a winning record but is 0-6 in the WS. But he does own the playoff record of 205 strikeouts. As for Keyshawn, he just seems to lose it in the playoffs. 11-11 with a 4.43 era.

It's not as simple as that....Kersh' playoff problems, is due to many factors. I am not saying Kersh should not get his share of blame, but there is plenty of blame to go around.....for many years the organization really put him in extremely difficult situations and frankly wouldn't have even made the postseason without his arm. For several years he was all they had, basically, and was pretty much used up before the postseason even started.

Even then. You can’t Judge his entire playoff resume just on the world series. Fact is he has been great in every other round. 2 of his 6 WS losses were as a rookie, 1 was the Pablo Sandoval game, 1 good game against the dodgers but got the loss due to poor run support, and 2 bad games against Washington at age 36. Kershaw has been consistently underperforming in every round of the playoffs.

I disagree on kershaw however I do agree with on Jansen. He’s burnt!

Kershaw gave up 4 runs in 5 innings. If we're looking at anybody else we say this isn't a bad line. Fault the Doyers for using up all their bats last night.

If you want to point fingers, point them at Brusdar for allowing 3 runs in a third of an inning.

    Who said that?
My initial post was can you remember another 1st ballot sure fire Hall of Famer that has come up as small in the Playoffs as Kershaw has?
Kershaw is a Hall of Famer, but he is trash when it matters most. He is a great player, but he can never be in the all time great discussion because of prolonged and repeated playoff disasters.

As for "Keyshawn" he is not a Hall of Famer, nobody got him the D-a-m-n ball.
