First Year Playing - Need Help Understanding

Some card series are obvious to me: Awards cards mean that it was their attributes from that given year. Prime, Rookie, Veteran, etc all seem like common sense.
Can someone explain to me what “Finest” really means and how this series is defined? Is it basically the best player from a team on a given year? Like the JRam Finest ‘18 card - did that just kinda mean that he was the best player for the Indians that year?

Correct. For this years finest Cubs player, I would assume it is Yu Darvish, as he was the best player for us. Finest is the "Finest" player from each team.

They also have fan votes for finest. For instance, say that Marcell Ozuna gets a finest card, but the fans want to see a Ronald Acuna or Max Fried finest card. The fans can then choose what other card they want to see.

So since it’s my first year playing, I have to ask: Last year for stage 4 Team Affinity, was it all finest cards?

Not sure. I wasn't playing DD much then, but I am almost positive.

This is the first year of multi stage Team Affinity, Finest were released mostly in packs.
