I’ve hit 4 HRs in 8 games with him and took Sheff spot at third. No way I’m playing Hornsby at third and Mondesi plays at 2nd so I sold Honus. Castellanos is great at third

It's not a bad card just isn't the best option that's all it is

    What is the best option?

    Many combinations are better...

    If at 3rd

Tatis (if for some stupid reason not at SS/2B)
    Sheffield
    Hornsby
    Castellanos

    if at 2nd

    Tatis
    Hornsby
    Honus

    if at SS

    Tatis
    Honus
    Mondesi
    Prestige Jroll
    Banks

    if at 1B

    ...why?

and LF unplayable cause of speed IMO.
I'm literally starting him only because I'm a die-hard tribe fan, no other justifiable reason lol.

I think 3rd makes the most sense, so lets stick with that. For the record I've been running Schmidt and I believe defense matters at 3rd so Hornsby's poor D and weak arm are a non starter. Shef has the arm, but D is poor but I think he's more viable than Hornsby.

I run Tatis at SS and I have Mondesi at 2B right now but I could see alternating Hornsby there as I have been in the early innings.

As far as castellanos goes, how can you like him but not like Jram? better hitting stats, beter D and arm and switch hitting...

I think J-Ram is the best 3rd baseman available. Schmidt, Brett and Donaldson are tier 2 and everyone else like banks, Minoso, Shef. etc. are tier 3.

Completely disagree with discrediting Shef and Hornsby like that. I think you're giving defense way too much value at third, but that's just my opinion.

Were at a time in the game where a runner getting to 1st could easily mean a runner on 3rd very quickly. Cobb, Wagner, Mondesi, mantle, Trout, Henderson... Lots of speed out there. A mishandled bunt, a weak grounder, contact to the backhand side... I argue D at 3rd is more important at this stage of the game than it was at any other point.

On paper that is the logic we'd hope the game would be consistent with but this game has proven day in day out (Been playing ranked since April) that the animations given to these fielders are anything but consistent. It's pretty bad out there, I'll take my chances and win games with the elite bat options at 3rd.

I have Honus on the bench, him and Cobb together have almost every position covered without really losing anything with high contact and speed which you want in a close game in the late innings..

Fair enough, I'm not the best hitter so I need to keep my opponents runs to a minimum.

You have them on the bench to pinch hit or run for you're slower guys?

Mantle and Mondesi start with Turner and sometimes Jackie on the bench. Turner started at 2B for me and Mondesi was the only reason he went to the bench. I liked Turner better than Hornsby and Honus

I figured as much, I like the versatility of having multiple speed and contact guys a long with the power bats. let's say I get on with Walker. he's fast, but not Cobb fast plus I can put Cobb in left and move Trout or mantle to Right. Jram get's walked in a tie game in the 9th.. Honus can pinch run then handle business at 3rd without missing a beat if it goes to extra innings. etc.

Exactly what I do. I don’t mind not having to many speed guys not starting. A dont bunt cheese or steel enough to warrant them staying in the lineup. But I do like having two on the bench in those situations you mentioned. Makes your club very versatile. That’s why I liked Trae Turner. Played multiple positions too

Yeah, I really like Turner, i was starting Hornsby then switching over to Turner later in the game, he has way more pop than his numbers say and I hit more than my fair share of dingers with him, but Mondesi is like a switch hitting Turner on steroids... I've hit just as many bombs, some of them big ones against righties with his 65 power as I have lefties. His left handed power def. seems bigger than the 65 number.

My only hang up with Mondesi is his neck tattoo... I'm just not a fan... It's like [censored] (breast) tattoos on hot chicks... To me it's like slapping a harry potter house symbol on a Ferrari.

I have him and I don't like him for a couple of reasons, so I don't use him.

    1. He is short and that makes his strike zone awkwardly small. I don't like that.
    2. He is a switch hitter, but basically a lefty killer. Especially his contact versus righties is on the lower side, which I think is the second most important attribute in the game (after power vs R).
    3. His defense is good, but in my opinion defense at 3B doesn't matter all that much. I ran a bunch of guys with silver or bronze fielding over there and it hardly impacts the game.
    4. Rogers Hornsby is better in every aspect except for the defense, which isn't all that important as I argued in my previous point, and has one of the better swings in the game.

Defense matters when you're playing ranked and getting close to making world series, every run counts!
