Stat Grinds

Why not just make the prestige/mission grinds be innings based rather than stat based? Or even putouts like they did with the Edmonds Program?
Wouldn’t that solve the problem of people boosting?
What am I missing here?

It would solve the boosting problem, but that would be super easy. Just play a bunch of games and he is prestige. IMO, that is too easy compared to stats.

Boosting is even easier, though. At least with innings you have to put the time in.
But I hear you. Maybe boosting isn’t something they’re too worried about anyway.

I am just firmly in Herm Edward’s corner:
“You play. To. Win. The. Game.”
Stat grinds interfere with the integrity of the game. People want the stats more than they want the win. That irks me.
That’s why we see the team names, “Homer with Belli and I Quit,” and the like, and end up getting cheap Event wins.
I don’t like it. But if SDS doesn’t care, I shouldn’t either.

That's essentially what the grinds for Pitchers are, which is why they're the only one's I've red-ed so far.

I’m not saying you’re a bad hitter; I don’t know. But your post made me think: innings-based prestiging would allow for good hitters and bad hitters to be able to prestige players in pretty much the same exact amount of time. I think that’s a good thing.

Me too. I'm somewhat close with Brian Roberts as far as position players go, but that's it.

Hey Dictionary! I have a new verb to add thanks to @SaveFarris! Red-ed. "When you prestige someone."

Meh, it is what it is. I'm fine with what they started doing the 7th inning...I'll give SDS credit for the Plate Appearances requirement, they should probably double down on that coupled with the stats. I don't see anything wrong with the current model past that, it's supposed to be a hassle.
FWIW: After prestiging the amount of players I've gotten during the year I can honestly say it's not worth it to me competitively speaking. By the time I finished each one (w/ the exception of Larry & SP's) the cards became outdated as new heat would be released almost right after. The market has crazy variety so if you want to keep up with the meta it's a waste of time. That is all, that's my take from a competitive standpoint. -
