Struggle with lead off hitter
-
I am having the worst go of things with my lead off hitter in almost every mode of play. And not just the first AB, I mean consistently through any game I just struggle in the #1 slot.
I’ve got a lot of the high end cards + 1.5 mm stubs in the bank, so have options. Most recently tried tatis and just switched yesterday to awards Hornsby.
Rather than just card options for lead off, anyone have any thoughts on what you look for in that position. Went Hornsby to try and increase vision; small sample size now, but still not great.
Appreciate any feedback just to stir my thoughts.

Cobb. Thats it lol When you go to the plate with your leadoff go with the mindset you are just trying to walk

My OF is mantle, award trout, walker...sold Cobb once I got him because he just didn’t fit in the lineup.
It was definitely hard to sell him with the stats but I just do well with walker.
Seriously debating about just slapping the pitcher in lead off and just really lean into my problems!!

Put in Cobb and drag bunt to the second baseman, then steal 2nd and 3rd and then score him on a sac-bunt. Rinse and repeat and make your opponent smash some controllers along the way. If you can't beat them, cheese them.

Hahaha, I wish I had it in me to give that a go. Haven’t done a cheese squad yet.

Seems to be the meta every time I play, so I'm at the point where I hope everyone will abuse the F out of it so they can finally nerf that nonsense into the ground where it belongs.

All jokes aside though, Cobb really is the best leadoff hitter in the game. I would play him over Walker in your case and put him out in LF where his arm doesn't hurt that much.

Mantle is actually a fantastic option at lead off. I've been using him there for the last little while.
With 1.5 million in stubs I'm going to assume you've got Trout plus a god squad, so you're not hurting for middle of the order power which is where most people stick Mantle.
If you think about it, a switch hitting speed guy with elite contact and great pop is an ideal leadoff hitter. Give him a whirl.

Lou Brock has been amazing for me and much better than Cobb. In fact I sold Cobb today. ️

Bold strategy Cotton, let's see if your obvious bias pays off.

Cobb, Mantle, Trout then Ruth in that order. Walker is a pinch hitter at this point in the game. Not saying he is not great but the other guys are way better IMO

Mantle at lead-off is pretty fantastic.

I’m not mad at that idea...I do have him currently at 4, so wouldn’t be much to shift that a little.

Ha! Trust me, when it comes to DD, I have no allegiance to anyone, period. I play whoever does best for me.

That's the right mindset, all power to you.

I hit Mantle lead off. Make them face your best hitter immediately, no chance to settle in. Cobb hits 7th for me.

My leadoff man has to have 100+ contact on both sides and close to 100 in vision. Needs to be high speed as well. I also like his Clutch rating to be in the 90s. Try TN turner he’s been amazing for me

Cobb, Mantle, or Jackie are usually my Go To's. I've got Jackie Playing First and Leading off cause I just can't hit with Frank.

Nice order idea.

I'll second the Lou Brock vote. I was prepared to buy Cobb since I took Kershaw, but Lou is just so good. Kind of a Cobb Lite maybe but he hits for better power than his attributes might suggest, especially against LHP. Plus if you're in a drag bunt/steal cheesing mood he can hold his own with Cobb too!
