Show-Off Your Squads: What do your squads look like?
-
I always love these threads to see the differences in everyone's lineups. This year there is so many great cards, I think the only spots in our lineups that will look very similar is possibly in the outfield and definitely in the rotation and bullpen.
Without further ado, I present my Ranked Seasons team, my All-Time White Sox team, and my "Just Havin' Fun vs. the CPU" team:

NOTE: Luckily, I'll be adding Prime Tyler Clippard when they drop the "Run It Back" program/packs! Super stoked to get him as I've always done well with any of Clippard's cards in past games.
Now, hopefully we'll get a diamond David Robertson, Tommy Kahnle, Nate Jones, Alex Colome -- I'd even settle for a diamond Kelvin Herrera; someone who was awful with us. I'm not sure if he still has a Live Series card in the game, but I would love a Prime Addison Reed card. I'd even like it if they gave us that rookie Chris Sale that usually launches with the game most years. I would then be able to use both Dane Dunning and Michael Kopech in my rotation. It'd be really awesome if they gave it a slight boost to gold instead of being silver like last year's version.
That being said, I hope we see them acquire some of the more 'niche' relievers of the last 20 years or so. I mean, I know there would be some folks who would be like "why are they bothering with guys that weren't even elite in their time?" but I'm sure there would also be a ton of people that would absolutely love being able to use cards like Matt Thornton, Carter Capps, Jonathan Papelbon, Danny Farquhar, Kyle Farnsworth, Bobby Jenks, Grant Balfour, Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez, Heath Bell, Eric O'Flaherty, Vinnie Pestano, Jose Valverde, J.J. Putz, Brian Wilson, Joe Nathan, Alexi Ogando, Ryan Madson, Koji Uehara, Rafael Soriano, Armando Benitez, Brad Lidge, Rafael Betancourt, Jesse Crain, Octavio Dotel, and Neftali Feliz just to name some off the top of my head.

1B - HW Ruth
2B - HW Alomar
3B - HW Sheffield
SS - SS Rollins
LF - Prime Mantle
CF - HW Trout
RF - Prestige Walker
SP - Sale/SeaverMy Team usually looks more like:
C - SS Posada
1B - Prestige Thome
2B - HW Alomar
3B - Prestige Chipper
SS - HRD Ripken
LF - HW Sheffield
CF - SS Lofton
RF - Prestige Walker
SP - SS Glavine/MadduxI just prefer my 90s guys TBH and I’m waaaaaay past caring if I win or lose games these days. Seems like if you actually try to win, the game will come up with various convoluted ways for you to lose instead. Despite having played close to 1000 RS games this year, I haven’t made WS once, unlike years past where I would make it every season and quite frankly, I couldn’t care less. The only reason I’m using Mantle and Trout more lately is to try and prestige them before Christmas, it’s something to complete, if nothing else.

Great post. Not going to say my lineup right now because isn’t much different from anyone else, but I just want to say how much of a cheat code Carter Capps was in BR in MLB 17.

SP Kluber/Wood/Seaver/Paxton/flavor of the weekI bought Scherzer back when he was first released but just tried him out the last two days and I've been terribly disappointed with him so far. I loved the Live Series version but this Awards series version is hard to control for some reason it seems.
I haven't looked at his individual pitch stats on DaddyLeagues, so maybe I'm just not using him correctly yet. If you happen to see this, would you mind explaining your approach with him? I'm assuming that he does well for you seeing as you listed him as your ace.

Right!? I loved that card, man!
That's why I brought that up in the bottom section of my All-Time White Sox post. I miss those niche guys so much.
I love when we get gold versions of Steve Cishek, Johnny Venters, and Darren O'Day. They need to continue to add to their pool of relievers in this game and since they have almost all of the "big names" now with Rivera, Wagner, Hoffman, Glavine, and Smoltz -- they should target some of the guys who would just be fun to bring back like Carter Capps, Koji Uehara, and Danny Farquhar.

Play the FB/cutter off each other with Scherzer. That's been the biggest difference for me over his LS card, the cutter has x1000 better command. In on the hands vs. lefties and out just off the plate vs. righties with the cutter and then same location next pitch with the FB. And then mix in the slider and changeup in this same situations enough to keep your opponent guessing, as well as the occasional front door cutter and high heat. I've only given up more than 1 run with Scherzer once, and they weren't particularly well-earned runs. Use the curve sparingly. You know why.
