SDS - Robert v Lewis

Eventually You have to do the right thing SDS. It’s getting absurd.
Robert is an 82 and has moved up every week (even though in most categories he’s gotten worse as the weeks have gone on). And Lewis is still a 75.
Kyle Lewis
.293/.389/.488/.877, 48H, 2 2B, 10HR, 34R, 27RBI, 27BB, 51K, 3/3 SB, .376 wOBA, 144 wRC+.Luis Robert
.258/.318/.516/.834, 41H, 8 2B, 11HR, 28R, 28RBI, 14BB, 55K, 6/8 SB, .350 wOBA, 123 wRC+. -
And don’t forget about that beautiful web gem tonight. Rookie of the Year. And they just might even sneak into the playoffs this year off the back of his success.
What’s even worse, Robert is rated higher than one of his teammates who is probably a top 10-15 player this year. Tim Anderson should not be an 81.

Yes his defense has been criminally underrated all year. He’s had multiple highlight reel catches but he’s still sitting on a 58 defense.

Yeah the are so off base with actual players actual attributes and then just hand out 99’s to minor leaguers, just makes no sense, same with my dude gio urshella. he’s a gold glove level defender at 3b, known for his elite defense long before he broke out w the bat w the yanks. He’s at like 60 fielding, why, legit no reason, if you have to be fraudulent with players attinutes in LS cards to control the amount of diamonds in the game then redo the scale, don’t just shaft actual players with their actual skill sets.
It’s just comical and so bias, you have guys like machado and tatis on the Padres jumping up like crazy, that’s their home team. Even guys like bribery and Soto and turner. Can you at least let guys like gio and Tim have gold fielding. If they loose all touch w reality the games just all pretend caps

I get that maybe Lewis’ stats are better and his live series should be higher. Honestly, they both have other high diamond cards so the live series doesn’t really matter?

To be fair, his defense is pretty bad looking at the metrics, he's def better this year, but Fangraphs still has him as a below average fielder.
Highlight reel catches are often misleading, it's not really always an indication of a good fielder.
(Edit, I thought you were referencing Tim Anderson since the person you replyed to was talking about him, realize you are talking Kyle Lewis's defense, so disregard)
(But also Fangraphs still has Kyle Lewis as a below average fielder to... so...)

I guess it depends on the metric you look at. For example if you look at OAA (outs above average) Lewis is an above average fielder. And his runs prevented is the same guys like Robles (87 field) and judge (95 field).

I think a big part of that has to do with the defensive attributes and also speed which weighs heavily for the position, because there's a lot of ground to cover out there in center field. If I recall correctly that POTM Lewis card has like 50 speed and mediocre defense, so I can imagine his live series card will have even worse stats in those 2 categories, justifying the fact that Luis Robert is a higher overall.

I just compared both LS cards and what I said is correct. The difference is made in fielding/reaction/speed. Offensively you could make the argument that Kyle Lewis actually has better attributes all around than Robert. The defense and speed though is what makes the difference in overall ratings. If Lewis continues to make web gems like he did the other day, I'm sure they'll bump him accordingly. I don't watch too many Mariners games, I'm not gonna lie. So I don't know if he's actually a better fielder or not. But I watch every White Sox game and I can tell you that Robert's fielding is accurately represented in this game.

I love them both, but I feel like Lewis and Robert should max out at a middle gold (82 or 83) imo. Both are going to have great careers, but I don’t think anyone should go diamond based solely on 40-something games. But there’s no reason that I can see for them to be 7 OVR pts apart. Robert probably is more valuable defensively, but Lewis should be gold for sure.
TA should be diamond. Biased Sox fan or not, he should be diamond. If SDS is being honest that they take a three-year average, then how does the guy who won the batting title last year and is on pace to win it again this year still sitting at an 81 OVR?? Yes, he is an average or slightly below average defender, but he’s very fast, gets on base a ton (.408 — 3rd in the AL), and he’s got a little more power than the average lead off hitter. If this year we’re putting guys in the diamond hypertrack, then how is a guy with a .369 / .408 / .586 line still sitting at 81 OVR Come on, brah. Let’s fight.

I’m not even necessarily arguing Lewis should have the same or better ranking than Robert because while Lewis has been better offensively, Robert is a better fielder - but Lewis is no slouch in the field . As I mentioned earlier, his metrics compare favorably with other CFs that have fielding attributes in the high 70s and 80s (merrifield, springer, Robles, etc) yet Lewis is in the 50s.
there is just no way Lewis should be at a 75 overall still while Robert is an 82. If Robert is an 82 Lewis should be at least a 79 or 80. Anything below that is just absurd.
