Which RTTS was better for you: 17, 18 or 19?
-
I personally liked 17 more of all 3 because you could choose exactly how to spend your points to improve rather then how it's done in 18 & 19. But with that being said I liked 18 more then 19. I didn't like how they did this thing with personality traits & needing to have friends & bro's which takes forever to get enough for those perks to kick in. What I hated about 18 & 19 together was that it was so hard to get caps increased because it was always random when the cap increase option came up for the cap you needed most to be increased due to already being at it's max from naturally gaining exp by playing within the game itself. Overall the hitting, pitching & fielding aspect was much better in 19. But I hope the go back to how RTTS was before with how 1 has more control with choosing how they develop their player.
What you guys think?

Take the bunt cheese out and it was 16.

D**m you are right. it was 16. Wow I remember now how ticked off I was with how they changed it & didn't play RTTS more then 10 or 20 so games all during 17 & did'nt give it a go again until 18 & 19. My Bad! OOOPS!!!!

I have been playing RTTS since 2009 and I hate the new archetype and cap system. The the other thing that makes 19 really bad is the challenges. I remember back in 09 and 10 when we had goals to meet. There was advancement goals and in game goals. These new challenges are almost identical to those old in game goals. We complained back then to get rid of them and now they are back with a new name. This whole immersion thing has gotten out of hand. As a SP I have to go through a cap/attribute increase, a coach talking to me, and a talk with a team mate in between every start. I just want to play baseball

It needs to go back at least to how 16 was which was still very good before all these STUPID, WELCOMED & UNWANTED CHANGES came making the development experience even worse. So slow, boring & counter productive.

There is an article on the internet about how SDS hired someone to oversee the whole change in RTTS to this supposedly more immersive way of having a career.I think they are trying to imitate NBA 2K or whatever(don't own) .Obviously don't have access to the demographics but I would guess it's an appeal to youngsters.
I don't understand the complaint about "bunt cheese".I thought that complaint was about cheating in head to head online games-not RTTS.I always thought "cheese"="cheat".If bunting was not realistic it would be "rocket bunt" or something similar. -
I’m in the minority on the forum here but I like where RTTS is headed with attributes changing based on performance and team and rivalry relationships, and challenges and perks (which are both completely optional). Note I said ‘headed’.
I just hope it is built upon and improved and not left in its present state as discussed in the previous forum.
Ideally there would be two types, one that allows the player to choose to which attributes points earned are allocated, and one (like present) that allocates points automatically based on the attribute that was used in the game. A simple prompt at the end of each game asking how points should be allocated would take care of this.
I know this thread isn’t about improvements to the mode so I won’t rattle of my list (we need another thread started up for that) but one thing that seems to be lacking is sending the RTTS player to the minors for poor performance.

Yeah, I don't like them either, but most of all, the bogus forced position changes, but I will continue to get the game until I get tired of it.

I like 17 but if it didn't force you to change positions it would've been even better but the one in 16 was probably the best cause you could ask for a trade every couple of weeks if you felt like going to a new team would help you either get to the majors quicker or get more playing time or even compete for championships plus if you were a backup you could ask for more playing time even though most times you don't get it or ask to switch positions but there was at least more interaction with your agent and they need to go back to that format or give you the option to get in touch with your agent if you need to just like real athletes do and the attributes system needs to go back to the way it was in mlb the show 16 and 17

Honestly.. hasn’t been good for nearly 10 years now..
It used to be the best career mode in video games by a mile, since about 2011 or 2012 it’s fallen behind with lack of improvements. The changes they have made have only made it worse
-
Of the ones mentioned, 17 for me.
-
16 when progression was based on sliders & you were able to decide & control which attributes you wanted to increase. RTTS for me since then does not appeal to me as it did before. I still play the mode because overall I enjoy it. But they changed it too much & took away the magic & appeal that made it what it was before.

I actually like 22.

What an old thread.
I think the move to archetype was bad. RTTS is a single player mode, so if someone wants all 99s they should be allowed. I think it was nice for something new, but they should have made it a choice and not force everyone to go that route.
