Just curious... What was the score in the 9th?
3-0 you can look up my name on the forum and look at the my game history
No need... was just curious.
How come?

Who did he bunt with? Game was still within reach. Bunt, bloop and a blast...
I'd agree with you if you were up by 5 or more runs.

In a video game?
So if im losing by a ton and they have speedster in their line up; you think a majority of this community wouldnt try to steal bases?
Or if they're up by 5 runs and they work a 3-0 count; they'll actually lay off the next pitch?
Probably not. Most of this community would run up the score so they could get their stats/ prestige points, etc.

Does nobody here get the alternating caps concept? I'm on the side of the bunter here.

If the game is really close, it may be acceptable. 3-0 is in that grey area of close but not close. I'm NOT in favor of trying to break up a no-no with a bunt just for the sake of getting a hit. That said, close enough game it may be a good way to start a rally

I don’t know why you would expect unwritten rules that aren’t followed IRL to be followed in a video game.
Because it’s Bush League
-
I’ll be honest. If I was struggling at the plate, I would have bunted for a hit much earlier than the stinkin 9th inning to get a rally started. At least the 5th, depending on how my pitcher was doing (PH)
That being said, I would have just taken my loss had I been down 3-0 in the 9th with someone throwing a perfect game against me.

I have to agree with this

Yes 100% thank you

Its a goddamn video game, grow up. Nothing to win or lose here. You don’t even get a trophy on your profile

Its extremely rare to be done in real life, especially in the 9th inning. The reason why its an unwritten rule is because it will pretty much be a guarantee either the person doing it or a teammate will get hurt in retaliation for it. Basically that's the reason almost all unwritten rules exist. Because its a video game there is not way to retaliate so its no surprise the guy didn't want a hurt ego and bunted cause he couldn't hit.
IRL guys like Tatis are able to break these unwritten rules because the written rules have changed. If Tatis did what he did before the Utley rule, he would get blown up every time he attempted to turn a double play vs the rangers the rest of the year.

Here’s the thing about Tatis... if you don’t want someone to hit a scud, don’t pitch someone into a 3-0 count, especially with the bases loaded.... or did something else happen that I missed?
-
You’re always gonna have people say it’s “part of the game” and you’re always gonna have people site the “unwritten rules”. It’s a tale as old as time! It will ALWAYS be there! It’s NEVER going away! It doesn’t matter if you think bunting is for spineless cowards, or if you think it’s cool.......it will always be there.

The thing you missed was the tradition of respect. With that lead it’s always been a sign of respect to not swing at that pitch and not to show up your opponent. Because guess what, no one likes being shown up. And in the past Tatis would have to pay for it because guys look out for eachother. You disrespect me or my teammate, your gonna get hurt. Imagine tatis doing that to Nolan Ryan, they would be prepping a body bag for tatis‘s next ab vs Ryan. Now with how much the rules have changed, there is a big suspension for throwing at someone and the middle infielder can’t get taken out during a double play. The game policed itself, but now the rules don’t allow players to keep eachother in check.
The problem now is people are for the bat flip, ok that’s great let the boys be boys. But it doesn’t go both ways, a guy can hit 40 hrs flip his bat every time but strike out 100+ times. Go ahead flip your bat each hr but let the pitcher flip his glove or do something everytime they strike them out. Hitters cry like babies all the time when a pitcher shows them up, but it’s ok for them to do it when they hit a hr. Imagine how many problems there would be if a pitcher showed up the hitter everytime they struck someone out? It’s the typical it’s ok if I do it but not ok for you to do it to me mentality

It's not just a video gameeeeeeeee.

This is a prime case of taking this game too seriously.... I love it as much anyone and play way too much, but the dude is trying to get in base in the 9th in a close game.
And even if you throw the perfect game, not much changes tomorrow.
