Taylor Trammell headed to Seattle!!

So that means Lewis, Kelenic, Julio Rodriguez, and Trammel can compete for the 3 outfield spots in the near future. Odd man out can DH.

Haniger can’t stay healthy and is already 30. He’s not in their long term plans anymore. They’d trade him now if they could get anything for him.

Not to say it's not a good trade for the M's, but you guys have to remember that these Future Stars aren't guaranteed to be great players just because they are in the game. Nola will help the Padres right now.

Trammell: top 50 prospect that teams are hesitant to commit on, struggled in AA (129 games .234 avg, OPS under .700)
Vs
Nola: playing high quality Major League Baseball, proving to be a hot commodity behind the plate and can play the whole field.
After a night of reflection, this is definitely a bit of a gamble they didn’t need to take. I’m telling you guys, Nola will tear it up in SD.

Is Nola a rental or under team control a couple years?

Nola was just called up last year so hes under committment for at least 4 maybe 5 years after this...

Nola has two years of team control and then three years of arbitration. He will be 35 by the time he is a free agent.
He was DFAed by the Marlins after seven seasons in their farm system and the Mariners picked him up on waivers as a low-risk super-utility player.
There is no doubt that Nola has found his swing, but he is still learning the catching craft and has a sub .100 avg on pickoff attempts.
The M's took a zero risk waiver claim and flipped him into getting the 60th ranked prospect in the MLB.

Exhibit #1,254,457 Why being a Marlins fan is maddening.
We could of had Taylor Trammel, But no we got Lewis Brinson instead. -
We also got a utility guy back who hit .399 in the minors last year and a reliever who’s fastball has hit 104. I look at the trade as three high upside lottery tickets for a player we got for free.

Oh man, it wasn't long ago I wanted the White Sox to trade for him. I know his health problems were just really bad luck but man, I'm glad that never actually happened.
It is the ruptured testicle that's the cause of all this still, right?

He tried to come back from that at the end of last year. Then he hurt his back. And he had multiple surgeries in the offseason but I’m not really sure what on. Team has said he won’t play at all in 2020.

I agree with this. The mariners believe Cal Raleigh is the catcher of the future for them anyway so Nola was always a short timer there. They only picked him up last year for depth at AAA and then he caught fire. So they flipped him and a couple of meh bullpen arms for a very talented Trammell who had a bad year last year after they made some tweaks to his swing but has speed for days, developing power, and could be an above average fielder in a corner outfield spot. Plus they also got 3 other young players all under club control for several more years. It was a great deal for the mariners.

Its the same injury. He has yet to make it back from. To label him injury prone is inaccurate. That said, I cant, nor do I want, to imagine the pain that he had to have been in.

I hope Haniger gets back soon. I need him on my fantasy team. -

He may still have that issue but he also has back issues keeping him out. We’ll have to agree to disagree about calling him injury prone. He missed 60 games his first year in Seattle In 2017 with an oblique injury. Then He played all of 2018, and in 2019 had the testicle issue. Then he hurt his back trying to come back at the end of the season last year and as a result had to have both a core surgery and a back surgery in the offseason. So 3 injuries in 4 seasons in Seattle causing him to miss substantial time in 3 of them feels like injury prone to me.
