Got MLB 20. How should I get started?

So I caved and got MLB 20 the other day. Late to the party. My playstyle for these games is as follows:
- I mostly play offline, against CPU, doing conquest and stuff.
- As such, I'm not into the PVP stuff.
- I want to collect the best players possible through offline play, completion of programs, conquest, etc.
My current squad:
- CF 85 Javier Baez (live)
- LF 77 Teoscar Hernandez
- SS 98 Alan Trammell (signature)
- 2B 82 Brandon Lowe (live)
- 1B 83 Paul Goldschmidt (live)
- RF 83 Max Kepler (live)
- 3B 83 Yuli Gurriel (live)
- C 79 Craig Biggio (rookie)
- P (88 Greg Maddux, 88 John Smoltz, 84 Corey Kluber, 84 Walker Beuler, 82 Hyun-Jin Ryu)
Stub balance is around 7,200.
(Some good reliable hitters would strengthen my lineup. Need good contact, power, plate vision, and discipline)
How should I start off and begin working on building up my team? There is a lot to work on, so which programs should I work on first?

Conquest give good rewards look to do that first then POTM if you want some good players cheap an easy. then look at topps now moments for easy 90 cards

I'd flip/reverse POTM and Topps Now (TN are moments-only while POTM requires just a hair more)
Don't just stop at shark map: play all the conquest maps in reverse (7th, 6th, 5th, etc)

I heard hitting was a problem this year. Will I have that same issue offline?

Probably. Offline more so than online, but particularly in moments and Showdown. Some questionable exit velos ill tell ya.

Yeah I can agree with that. Although the early conquest maps don’t really have much to offer as far as building your team goes, but can be good for stubs + packs

I remember hitting being an issue in MLB 18 or something. I went from beating up the Astros in the first inning of conquest games in 19, to struggling to even get my footing in 20. They'll fix it, right?

No. Game is what it is now. Patches stop happening in June/July. 18 was such a mess because pitch speed was super slow and power was the only stat that mattered.

Must be a matter of getting used to the feel of the game for me. Thanks

Conquest is the fastest way to build an all diamond squad. I've done it that way on two alt. accounts. Takes about an hour to get all diamond (except bullpen).

Bingo! Get the free cards and stubs from Conquest and POTM; then work the Moments.
You're already STARTING with a better team than most of us had in March! Fight off the urge to relentlessly buy packs, like I did. SMH! Next year will be SO much better, lol!
