Every has to remember that POTM are for guys playing way above what there stats would say so guys like Harper would be out because he has done this before.
Tatis while good is playing at a level we have never see same with Lowe these guys are playing way above what any projected them to be at.
For me its
Tatis
Lowe
Hernandez
Hendricks
Trevor BI’d go with
Tatis
Lewis
Bauer
Hendriks
Lowe -

Everyone seems to be in agreement that Tatis will be the lightning card, who else does everyone think will be in there? There are usually 5 total right? I’m guessing Charlie Blackmon and Kyle Lewis will be two of them. And I assume there will be a pitcher or two, maybe Bauer or Hendriks or Bieber?
How bout Harper and his league leading ops, or max fried and his National league leading win, war, and era. And Kyle Hendricks has gotten lit up in several starts since his fluke opening day shutout.
Liam Hendriks not Kyle Hendricks. Kyle already has a topps now card anyway.

Jose Abreu might sneak in

Trevor BHarper hasn’t played at the level he is currently at since his mvp season in 2015. Not even close. In fact a couple years there he wasn’t even playing replacement level defense. And his offense was barely replacement level. So his resurgence is definitely noteworthy (probably not going to be POTM because of boss status this month) As far as Hendricks is concerned you’re making a case for a pitcher with a 3.55 ERA and one quality start. He has gotten shelled in at least two appearances and has pitched average at best in the other starts apart from his opening day fluke shutout. You don’t even mention the one pitcher no one is talking about who is having the best season of any NL pitcher in Max Fried. Look at his stats and tell me he doesn’t deserve to be in the POTM conversation. Just making an observation.

Harper is currently a boss with a 99 card. He’s not going to be a POTM. Also people are talking about Liam Hendriks The closer not Kyle the starter.

Trevor BOh and Tatis is not playing above his projections, he is playing as he was projected to play being a top 5 five tool prospect, just like Ronald acuna jr playing to nearly 40-40 stats last year that surprised no one because he was expected to produce at that level being a #1 prospect. Now Lowe, you make a good case for, definitely came out of no where.

Oh ok that makes far more sense

So there’s 21 Topps Now right now and the last tier of the collection is 24. I wonder if that’s all there will be or if they will add another tier at the top for the Lightning guy?
-
the schedule says there are more topps nows coming out Friday right?

SDS has shown us with previous POTMs that the obvious selection is not always the correct answer.
First off Tatis is the POTM.
But I have a feeling he will not be the lightning card.
Think about it, what will generate more hype and spending...
Tatis in a POTM collection or a Finest Tatis being a collection reward for collecting all or most of the Stage 4 cards?
As a matter of business and revenue generation making Stage 4 rewards Finest cards and have Tatis be a collection reward will make the Trout set look like nothing. -

The obvious answer is not always the right answer. SDS has a knack of zigging when we expect them to zag.

As a matter of business and revenue generation making Stage 4 rewards Finest cards and have Tatis be a collection reward will make the Trout set look like nothing. In theory this would work. For Tatis to deserve a 99 Finest card that is leaps and bounds better than any card, meaning he deserves a collection reward card like that, he'll have to keep up this MVP level pace all year. Not saying that's impossible, but for what you're saying, what will generate the most sales, capitalizing on how hot he is now would do that. He's been HOT for sure. Can he sustain the pace he's been at? I can't imagine.
I agree with you though, SDS doesn't always pick the obvious, but they also don't want to waste a performance like he's having either. People tend to remember what's happening more at the end of the year than the beginning. If Tatis cools off and still hits 25 HR and bats over .320, but someone else with a big name comes on strong at the end of the year with similar numbers, that's who people will clamor for then. Just my two cents. -

Just my two cents. The only guy that could snatch the limelight from Tatis is Mookie Betts. That's it.
This is taking performance and DD into account.
Who amongst the top players right now is close to Tatis in performance, hype AND doesn't have a high end card?
It is Mookie.
Tatis has 30 games left....13 vs the Mariners and Giants and 4 in Colorado.
2 more weeks of high level play, not great, just high level and SDS will easily be able to justify the Finest Tatis. Unless Mookie stays this hot and manages to crack it up a notch.ONE LAST THING: The Unwritten Rules Tatis was SDS testing the waters for the Hype and desirability for a collection Tatis. Only SDS has the numbers but I bet he was among the most used cards those 48 hrs.

Looking forward to that Tatis moment:
"With the bases loaded, in a 3-0 count, hit one HR while glaring at the pitcher. Avoid charging the mound. 8 points"

It's been said, but Brandon Lowe has to be the second highest card. SDS rarely does this, but his defense needs a boost as well. He's playing great defense at 2b and solid D in left or right field. His vision should be much higher in a juiced card too because he isn't striking out as much now like he was last year. First couple weeks he was, but since he got rolling, his plate discipline has been much better!
I think Staumont gets the #2 card. Lowe or Yastremski get the #1.
Yaz just got a Topps Now, no way he's in POTM

If it is, I may have just netted a job in the Creative thinking department at SDS. I'll keep my phone close boys, I'm available all afternoon.
