No, I'm hitting like .200 in Ranked Seasons. I'm not kidding. I get by on my pitching.
Doesn't matter how good your pitching is if you have good internet. You will be throwing slow pitch softball to these top players with their "magic" internet.
I’ve seen a lot of your posts and agree that internet connection plays a huge part in how the game plays online.
I have fiber with 1000 up and a 1000 down. I know the PlayStation limits this to something much lower. In your opinion do you think I’d be better off going back to WiFi ?
For what it’s worth I’m not bad, but I want the best experience possible.
pS we better be able to see our opponents ping before the start of a game on next gen or I’m going to be pissed. I sit at 25-27
I know my game plays a little better on t-mobile hot spot > wireless > wired (wired is the worst experience). IMO, to have the best experience you want to have a ping around 100 in other games. In PUBG, I have 30 wired and wireless and 60 on hot spot which is still better than most gamers. All speculation since I don't have all the numbers available to me. Let me guess, you have games where you can't react to 95 then some games you can turn on it easily.
Don't pay any attention to Mitch. He has that "magic" internet. If you were to play 100 games at your house and 100 games at Mitch's, you would see a noticeable difference.
Again, I have never or never will claim to be a top player in this game. I just want 95 to look like 95 every game. If I go 100-10 or 10-100, I don't care. I just want a fair game with a level playing field. You simply can't match me in the center of the U.S. with fiber against someone in Florida on wireless and expect it to be a smooth game. I understand as a small company they need to go peer to peer for money purposes but they need ping indicators and better match making. I would rather wait 5 minutes for a smooth, fair game than getting one in 10 seconds where the ball is warping everywhere.
You’re an idiot or a troll or both; the reason you play better on mobile hotspot is because your upload speed sucks and lags the other player. You can have 100G download speed, if your opponent’s upload is bad, you’ll suffer not the other way around.

I’m trying to climb into 700-800 range and just getting shelled by these players with their entire line up hitting like 340-350... like if your that good at hitting why the hell am I facing you in the 600s?? I don’t get it.. is just everybody a freak at hitting this year?
I had to play a prestige 100 player at ranked level 450. I’m sitting there like how in the world does that happen.

Hitting on AS is too easy, and hitting on HoF is just a tad bit too difficult for most. I wish Ranked Seasons played somewhere in between.
If having to choose between the two modes as they are, though, and I prefer HoF.
I play my offline franchise on Legend and I absolutely rake. So I think there is a difference between H2H and offline.
I agree about there being a difference in online and offline, but I think it's because the CPU pitches in the zone much more than most online people pitchers are willing to.

That could certainly factor in. But I also think the timing windows in H2H are smaller, and the pitch speeds are faster. The CPU cannot sneak a 102mph fastball by me on Legend, but I’m frequently late on a 96mph when facing an actual person. It could be in my head or how I approach at-bats in each situation, but it certainly feels the way I described it.

I agree that pitch velocity online is faster, regardless of difficulty setting online or offline. I've been on this forum for several months but I still don't know what a timing window refers to. What is that?

I think the CPU pitches our batters as if they're real characters with their real career stats. Online pitchers can pitch an entire online lineup like they're being controlled by the same brain, because they are. The CPU pitcher doesn't know how long it's been since the human opponent took a walk.

A timing window is the amount of time you have to swing the bat and be rewarded with “perfect” timing. The lower the level, or playing offline, the bigger that window is.

I'm hitting .261 and still have a 66% win rate, this year. I rely on pitching. I'm also on the other side of the world and have run into minimal connection issues.
What does you're pitching record/era look like in AS? What does you're typical AS game look like? I'm having a hell of a time getting out of AS level. It seems like some of my opponents hit everything hard, even off the plate stuff that kind of seems like it should be very difficult to hit.

If you want to boost your avg and your below 700 probably just as well playing RS.
-
I think averages with many players are higher due to grinding events a lot more this year rather than playing Ranked.
-
Wow...no one wants to play Mitch lol

I suck at hitting. Well fastballs anyway. I just can’t pick it up fast enough to hit them. I’m always late. I have to sit off speed. My last 7 online games 4 were against diamond and 2 prestige and one silver. I’m a silver 70 so yea I get crushed and it’s disheartening. Like matchmaking can’t be that bad or your telling me there’s no one lower available to play
It is disheartening - I've grinded a lot this year (thanks Covid!) and now at level 92 diamond, but that doesn't mean I'm that good. When I was in the silvers I'd see a diamond or prestige player and immediately feel like giving up, which puts you on the back foot automatically.
Just because they are a high rank, doesn't necessarily mean they're very good. I say that as someone ranked in the 600s at the moment who still can't hit a curveball. Stick in there, it'll come!
(and in response to the original thread, think I'm hitting about .255 overall, with an OBP of about .256 having walked about twice in 100 ranked season games!!)

I'm killing it at #8,039 in the Wild Card group with a .217 average and a .673 OPS. Also, a 4.61 ERA. So, yeah... I'm pretty good.

It’s insane like I get almost to 700 then face a couple insane hitters and drop back down to low 600s. Been like that all week really pissing me off. Like [censored] you fools should be on your way to WS not sh1tt1ng on people like me.
Yes sir, me too

My averages are inflated due to events

Alr I have another question for you, Demise. If I have “magic internet” that gives me an advantage, why am I one of the worst pitchers in the game? If my opponents were getting 110 mph fastballs, which is what you’ve described in the past, I would have a very low ERA. My era is 8.44 this szn. No way my opponents are at a disadvantage and I still have such an awful era
Regardless of connections, you are still facing really skilled players at that level. Being a top 50 player, it is fair to say most of your games are against highly skilled players. Maybe you don't mix pitches or locations.
So you think everybody sees the same thing every game? You think 95 is 95 every game? I can promise you it is not. I'm not going to take the time but say Wood is pitching. One game you are lighting him up and the next you simply can't catch up to it. If you did a side by side video of those pitches, you would see a difference in how fast they arrive at the plate.
despite all the hate you get i actually think you are on to something...
