Did we really need another Smoltz?

Did we really need a 4th John Smoltz? He is the first card in diamond dynasty history(as far as I'm aware) to have 4 diamonds. I know of people who have had 3 diamonds (A-Roid in 16, Griffey in 17[Breakout, Postseason, Hardware] and when Griffey gets his 99 this year) He honestly isn't that good anyway.

The answer is no.
I mean, credit to SDS for all the content this year, but some of the decisions have been head scratching, to say the least. Especially doing this Smoltz when we’re still waiting for some usable cards of a lot of guys.
Then there’s the ratings on the future stars and Topps Now. And suddenly every LS card is diamond worthy without anyone dropping out of diamond.

Makes zero sense

Having two 99s seems like overkill, but with this setup it does offer the option to use him as closer or starter, as did the two lower tier diamonds being released alongside each other earlier in the year. I think that was the intent, plus Smoltz is a bit of an outlier in the sense he was a very successful starter and reliever during the course of his career. It’s hard to accurately reflect that without having two cards, a SP and a CP. The fact there are two of each is just a reflection of SDS commitment to making content progressive this year, with higher rated versions of cards coming later on.

It is the year of the brave. This is hey I’ve stupid

I just don't get how you can rank these rookies, topps now, etc above someone like Trout who is on his way to being in the discussion of GOAT. And better than some of the legendary players in the game. I get some of them are projections, but everybody's going to be better than Trout? What?

Actually it's the 5th John Smoltz since he had that launch 88 too. I don't hate the move though, that 92 CP is outdated and he looks like a viable bullpen guy now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but there are 4, 88 starter, 92 closer, 96 closer, 99 starter. Maybe there is another I am unaware of.

No
and we also don't need another 100 headliners that guarantee silvers, while we are at it. -
We need more post season cards!!!!!

You're right I counted the 99 SP Prestige as #5

Agree but above the inflated stats of the card types you mention, nothing pisses me off more than CAPs. Stupid to include them in DD. If you want a CAP, play RTTS.
