Honestly, be patient, wait for your pitch. With the HOF games, you are road team and bat 1st, if you dont score at least a run, restart the inning. If you are like me and can pitch shut outs, all you need is 1 run. It is moments, so there is no penalty to restart
100 % correct and have power arms in the pen.
I did not worry about playing match ups unless there were 2 outs in an inning. The CPU does a good job in alternating the lineup, so I just went with my most trusted arms out of the pen.Yeah, there is no way to load up vs CPU lineup, it deliberately alternates L and R. in fact Babe is on Bench for Judge because of handedness.
I use Henke vs RH, Chapman vs LH, and Hoffman vs SH.
My issue was not pitching, i just have to score, so i tried to score as early and often as possible, also steal, steal, steal. Like i said, you dont score in the first restart.

Speed, lots of lefties, and a good starter who keeps the ball in the yard. I’ve done really well with Mike Scott.
I know they got rid of the HR/9 affect for players, but I wonder if it still works against the CPU?

Get Awards J.D.!!! Awards JD, Story, and Fotf Smoltz won a ton of game for me. Jd had 8 walk offs, and Story had 2.
-
Patience and take pitches. They throw more on the edges of the zone so some of them will just be off the plate and others just inside the zone. Wait them out and work the count. You'll get your pitches to hit. I beat all 9 of them in first try...4 shutouts using Awards Cory Kluber. The sinker/slurve combo still dominates at that difficulty. They couldn't touch me. Also, put LS Trout in the #3 spot. For some reason he rakes and hit the key homeruns in a lot of those games for me against these HOF pitchers.

Yeah, i have used Prestige Smoltz for the whole thing, just has great stuff to dominate the CPU.

Pitch great and try to be patient, the CPU will walk you quite a bit.
I found the HOF moments much easier than RS games -
Take lots of pitches in the first couple innings. The CPU pitchers start to give up more hard contact once their energy goes down. Also,
If you let them get away with throwing 5 pitches an inning, their confidence will get so high, itll be really hard to put hits together.Patience and walks will wear down a CPU pitcher.
Good luck!

I second the restart idea.
For me, I knew i was going to have to give up one or zero runs to win for the most part. So the second I got down 1-0 it was time to restart. I knew a comeback wasn't likely and was just gonna waste my time. So restart when losing, but after a bit I got the timing down to get a run or two early and could hold on for the W. I was winning most games something like 4-2

I beat the HOF games pretty easily. Once I started the all star ones I instantly gave up 3 bombs total after restarting 3 separate games against the orioles no less. Go figure
-
Take pitches! I restarted the Kluber game until I got a run in the first inning and twenty plus pitches. Once he gets out of the game it became a lot easier for me.

What was funny for me was after about 25 games on AS, my offense went to complete sh**. I had like 10 runs with like only 1 hit. I won an extra innings game 1-0 on a walk off sac fly. So i won a game i was no hit. No clue why in the world i couldn't hit after I had so many easy games.

I am good with pitching, and I can pitch shutout innings pretty easily. I have a hard time scoring runs though.
I went with an all speed lineup
CF -Lofton
LF - Brock
3B - Jackie
RF - Mickey
1B - Musial
SS - Mondesi
2B - Brujan
C - BiggioBench
Wagner
Cobb
Walker
Posada
CabreraObviously, Mickey and Stan are not speed guys, but you need some power in a lineup.
It's like the mid 80's Cardinals - Speed through out the lineup with Jack Clark and Pendelton to clean up.You need to be patient, steal bases and avoid mistakes on the basepaths.
All of that speed is also a huge bonus on defense. Good luck getting a ball in the gap or a dribbler through the infield with all of that speed.Mickey has 92 speed

Mickey has 92 speed
Yes, but using Mickey as a small ball player is a waste.
I don't know who would use mickey to bunt, or to move runners over.
He is your hammer, who just happens to be fast. -
I’m down to NLW, AL NL and MLB. I’m mentally exhausted with the HoF ones so far. You just know you’re one pitch away from losing all game unless you get a quick 2-3 runs lead. I’m 5-1 so far, probably gave up 4 runs total but I’m tensed all the time. Can’t wait to be done.

I need the AL East HOF game and then all the AS games. Gotta get back on my grind lol. Don’t know why Kluber gave up so many meatballs like that but on HOF he was unhittable
-
I used a lot of speed. I’d pinch run for guys that got hits and steal around and then bunt them in. Cheap way to win but effective. I used it a lot. I used Kluber for the early HOF games until I unlocked Seaver and I used him for the last couple. I saw someone else posted to try fastballs high and away on HOF against the CPU to keep them off balance and I was skeptical but tried it and it worked. The hardest pitcher for me on HOF was Maddux because of the change in speeds.
The one big difference I found between HOF and AS was the CPU’s frequent disregard for where I directed the pitch to go. It was maddening the number of times I’d throw a pitch perfectly and yet I’d see it float up waist high and get smashed for a HR by the #8 hitter or some other guy that had no business hitting a HR.
-
I just beat the NL 2-1 and got Babe Ruth. I scored most of my runs from stealing bases and restarting if I didn’t score in the first inning. Thanks for all of the tips!
-
On HoF I got many HRs hitting contact on 2 strike counts; weird.
-
I used contact swing a lot more than I normally would. Actually hit 2 homers in the final game on contact swing. Like others have said, I let the catcher call the game and only gave up one solo homer to Mickey. Just try and string some hits together and you will also get walked plenty.
-
I would start the game and see what starter you are going against exit out and stack my lineup with either righties or lefties depending on what handed pitcher you get. You can stack your bench with guys to replace some of those guys if they switch to a reliever. Having switch bats definitely helps as well. Take pitches as well, I got walked alot.
