Some "unwritten rules" I agree with. Like trying to bunt to break up a No Hitter is straight garbage IMO.
Swinging 3-0 with bases loaded while up 7??? That's on the pitcher for getting himself in that hole to be honest. It's ensuring there won't be a comeback. Just my thoughts...

This is much ado about nothing, Tatis ignored the take sign or missed it all together and got a pitch to hit and did his job. It’s not like he stepped out of the box and pointed to the left centerfield bleachers and called his shot (although that would’ve been hilarious and awesome and arrogant all at the same time). He put a good swing on the ball and it happened to go out. So what. If you had a problem with this than you need to reassess your life!!

Why exactly? It's a perfectly valid way of getting on base. If it's part of someone's skill set, they should use it. Why take that away? Should pitchers only throw fastballs when their team is up big?

Arizona was up by 2 in the 9th with bases loaded so they walked bonds and the next batter flew out game over Az wins. Was a great strategy and worked out for AZ. But still one of the craziest moments I remember watching.

No it absolutely was not. No one is going to walk a run in up by 2 because they think someone has a bad attitude. It was a sounds strategy against the best player in baseball at the time.

To me there is no problem with it. Its really a damned if you do damned if you dont moment. You swing away and hit the ball you're running up the score and people get mad. You don't swing and end up losing the game people will blame you for not taking advantage of a good scoring opportunity. Again, I dont have any problem with him swinging. If you dont eant him swinging 3-0........dont get to 3-0

3-0 bases empty 0 outs take the pitch. 3-0 runners in scoring position with your best hitter up hit a dinger.

That's another one I completely disagree with. A batters job is to get on base any way they can. I dont see why hitters should only be allowed to swing for gaps or HRs just because they haven't had one fall in yet.
The bunting thing depends on the score imo. If the team being no-hit is currently being blown out, a bunt single isn't likely to spark a major comeback late (sure its possible...) so in that situation I'd consider it bad taste. If its a close game, then yeah...bunt away and tell your defense to be prepared to play them.
There some "unwritten rules" that I can get behind...like not stealing bases up a ton...but don't walk the bases loaded and expect to be bailed out because the pitcher cant locate.
I'm sure guys , while they may not admit it, are thinking these "padded stats" will help in the contract/awards chase. Tatis can make a case for NL MVP right now and if I were him, I'd want every stat I could get to help me get that award.

As the Padres it's an issue because he didn't take the pitch like instructed. As for the Rangers they are a bunch of whiny babies. Instead of crying about the "Bush league" play, how about you not get into that situation? I've seen way too many games im my life where a team had a huge lead and let up and lost. This isn't a sport where the score needs to be close every game. This is a game where you win the game anyway you can. Take it from Belichick, you keep playing until the game is over. Only then do you let up.

Depends on the score really. Late in a close game? Sure. In a blowout? No way, its bush league if you're only doing it to break up a no no.
As for running up the score, I'm fine with this, you cant ask a player not to swing, its stealing or bunting guys over I would have a problem with.

I think its funny how they must think that a 7 run game with two innings left is something you don't come back from.... maybe if they were already up by 10+ then MAYBE i'd understand a little more than I do now, which is not at all...

Tatis Jr. obviously only got the take sign because of the “unwritten rule,” so I don’t really care that he ignored it. At any rate, that’s an issue that should be kept in-house from the Padres perspective.

If the game was really out of hand to the point that players like Tatis shouldn’t be putting in effort to keep scoring, then he should have been taken out of the game. But I don’t think there’s a single manager in baseball who would have taken out Tatis in that situation, because they know that lead isn’t completely safe. So spare me the arguments that Tatis should try to get on base, but not too hard.

Teams are evaluating contracts by age and numbers driven value more than ever. These teams don’t get to tell players not to do whatever it takes to inflate their numbers, then turn around in arbitration or contract negotiations and try to use their stats against them.

Baseball has a star problem. Tatis is one of the most star ready players the sport has seen in a long time (not just his talent, but his charisma and overall likability). So of course the league will do whatever it takes to stamp out his individuality and make him Like one of the rest of the players who aren’t recognizable to the general public. Baseball will continue to have these marketing issues if they can’t convince the actual people playing to let the players be themselves and be stars.

Can he be himself without showing up the other team? Him being general, not Tatis specifically. There's a time and place for celebration.
I have to be honest, I subscribe to a lot of these unwritten rules.

In my opinion a batter goes up to the plate with one objective. Get a hit. If it's a home run even better. Tatis is a guy who should always have a green light on 3-0 i don't care what the score is. I've watched games that are way more high scoring then this and i've never seen a player hold back.
The Rangers are babies for beign upset over this in my opinion but the manager of the Padres should also be embarrassed.
On a side note Tatis is just incredible, great player.
