The Ruth moments are good Zone practice if you want to master it.
ive thrown 2 controllers thru 2 different tvs, im new to this game and i hate to lose especially when i know im getting cheated by the computer. i dont think my noob azz is ready for them games yet.- thanks for the thought though!
Have you ever thought about anger management?
Or buy a monitor and throw your controller through that. It's cheaper.
-
I use both as I find it really depends on the mode. I find directional more fun (imo) but for the Ruth HOF moments, zone was by far the way to get those done. Just don’t let anyone bully you into thinking there is only one right way......bs. Whatever is fun is what you should do.

You can also set up a custom practice, start off on a lower difficulty.
NO ONE OVER THE AGE OF 35 WANTS TO SPEND TIME PRACTICING A VIDEO GAME THEY JUST WANNA HAVE FUN LIKE CYNDI LAUPERS GIRLS....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9dz--yKDZY
WE HAVE THE MOST MONEY BUT THEY GEAR THINGS TOWARD THE KIDS SO PARENTS CAN GET THEIR CC'S RAPED( CAPS GOT STUCK- SORRY)
Weird, that's like the most reversed thing ever, usually people over 35 are like "Kids today don't want to work for anything", and now it's Adults over 35 don't want to take time be good, they want their hand held.
because its a video game man, back in the day you popped in a sports game you didnt have to learn a thousand different algorithms and watch youtube for hours you just played with what you had, this game you could be matched up with someone whos dedicated their life such as yourself to this game, when we played video games we one by best hand eye now days you have to practice? your life is short it should be spent doing something of value not practicing a video game.
Ah yes the ole "Why don't you do something with your life" bit.
I'm currently taking online college classes, I am writing a book, I write fantasy baseball articles as a hobby, living a good life, looking forward to when I can do more once this COVID stuff dies down, until then, I have plenty of time to play MLB the Show and that's ok.
This guy does all this and still has time to fact check people on a video game forum lol, I’ll never forget that.

Since World Series Baseball on Sega Genesis
I miss that game, I couldn’t remember the name. Thank you.

I'm 35
I use zone
I will say I would love seeing how I stack up with people in my age range, maybe 30-39
I consider myself pretty decent and due to my age there's no way I can compete with the young kids in this game.
-
Another squishy?
-
I'm 39 years old and use zone without issues. I do fine against CPU. and my struggles in H2H are usually due to I'm cursed pitching in the ninth inning and blow the lead at least 50% of the time. I dont think age has anything to do with hitting... any age will need a little time to get used to it. Can you actually use directional in H2H matches, and how does that even work?? Isn't directional only swing on timing???

39 here... I've only been playing a few months now. I think I'm 28-37 in RS so far. I can be super patient and hit well one night and then the next night I cant train my simpleton brain to stop swinging at balls. I would be down for an old man game if you want to play sometime. What's your H2H record?

I'm 75-21 and the record is not representative of my skill level. I think I'm way worse than the record. I've watched a few streams and those guys are ridiculously good. I struggle with small PCI movements, sinkers, and laying off pitches below the zone.
My strength is pitching and defense. I hit just enough to win some close games.

Honest question, was worried about Ruth Moments on HOF but they were somewhat easy for me... I was raking everything, even the outs were solid hits.
Now I’m back to RS and I can’t hit to save my life, losing most games 2-1 or 1-0.
Did playing CPU moments totally jack with my timing, or has ranked gotten harder or nerfed??I would say it's a combination of that and while I'm not 100% on this, the Sliders of each Mode are different, in my opinion. I'm mainly an Off-line player. All-Star on Conquest/Play vs. CPU is not the same All-Star in those moments. Moments are designed to be a bit more difficult. I even think All-Star on RS is different

practice your zone hitting on challenge of the week

That's actually an impressive record... anytime I've been matched against good records like yours, I get smoked. I'm curious if you use a monitor? I feel like I could be a lot better, but it seems like every other ranked game the fastball is coming in at 125mph and it's nearly impossible for me to get my bat going. I'm definitely better at pitching.... all 5 starters are under 3.0 era right now, but my season batting average is .210 and I'm not getting a monitor for 1 game I only play a few months a year.
-
Yea I have a 1ms monitor. I game in my man cave and it's basically a computer/gaming room for me to escape. I don't really watch TV in there anyways. Even with a 1 ms monitor I'm late on sinkers consistently.
My avg is around 310-315, not sure what my ERA is.

He is/was a troll that got banned twice over the weekend.
This one makes three bans in almost as many days.He flew off the handle making threats and being a moron over everything.
He loves breaking Controllers, sports writers and John Rocker. **That is an inside joke- it was the stuff he had meltdowns over.

I'm curious because as a new player Im hitting better with "strike(out) zone 3 with directional. PCI I'm not likeing simply because my eyes may go to the ball but my left thumb may go the oposite way throwing off "pci" and giving a bad hit when knowing darn well it shouldve been hit and I'm seeing there are people are still using directional and get bagged on for it. Why not have 2 different types of leagues one pci one directional. i'm older and my eyes are getting bad (laugh but if youre fortunate to live to be old you will see the same deficiancies in your body). If I still had the same eye hand and my mind was willing to learn new ways of thinking id get used to pci but as an older player its too much and as an older player i do not nor have the time to invest in hours/days/months of training for a video game that wont pay bills even if i do "get it" eventually. laugh now- be fortunate to get old and you will see.
im new to buddy and i use zone 3 and directional and i will not change back period. I dont care what youtuber thinks it great. I hit so much better its not even close. I get it for die hard players but its to much moving that stupid thing for it to be a good contact or perfect to die at the wall anyway. im spraying the ball all over the field with directional

Directional is mostly timing, but it's also built around "influencing" your swing, and choosing the right type of influence varies greatly depending on both the pitch type and the player/card doing the swinging (and those things alter your timing windows). I think there's a misconception that moving the stick corresponds with where the pitch is located, as in you must move the stick to the right to hit a pitch on the inside to a left-handed hitter, but it's less about location than it is about "type"; for example, in my experience, anyway, Lou Brock does better by pulling that inside pitch (stick right) but Rod Carew has more success with an "inside out" approach, and can dump that inside pitch into left-center by swinging with the stick to the left (also need to swing later).
It really took a long time to find the right players and learn how they hit best. I couldn't hit anything with some of the guys others love... Eric Davis was a strikeout machine (low vision) even with good timing, and I got nothing but soft contact with Kaline, but Vlad and Brett solved my power problem.
Still, you're not going to hit the down-and-away slider 500 feet to center with directional, so PCI definitely gives you the edge with the ability to hit anything out, whereas I need to pick my pitches. The ball does not need to be dead center, though. I've read plenty of speculation that pitches are "forced" to the middle to benefit directional players, but that's nonsense. Some pitches are definitely "forced" there by the game play, but I think that's unrelated; some of my cards do much better on pitches down and in, so I think that benefits poor PCI placers more, but what do I know...
Anyway, I just like it better and it works fine. I'm 46, and my RS record is 151-119. Not good, but certainly enough to have fun without feeling I'm getting my [censored] handed to me every time I play.

great write up. IDK man I used PCI all year until about two weeks ago. HUGE difference man. Not even getting in to the swing type per player. Just feels more realistic than trying to move that [censored] cursor all over the place. Well i hit way better anyway. My RS record is 10-13 lol
