40 something gamer here
50's here. Switched to a monitor 6 years ago and will never go back.

I know how you feel man. I was in the same position only without the excuse of my daughter wanting one to give me a reason to buy one unfortunately. I was on the fence for a while with the monitor thing and finally decided to get one about a month or so ago. I was unsure of the difference it would make despite what everyone says but yes, makes a HUGE difference. I'm not making WS anytime soon either but it sure is a lot more fun playing when you're on a level playing field with everyone else that has a monitor. Definitely easier timing up pitches especially fastballs and I am a much improved hitter since getting the monitor. Still not great, but better for sure.

almost 40, changed my enjoyment level completely.

@DeadPhish1976 i refused to buy equipment to play a game I already paid for. So happy I have the excuse of my daughters birthday. Only wish she would’ve asked awhile ago. Lol.

mid 40's here and am considering a monitor also.

Almost 50 here. Does it help with your eyes? Mine get really red/dried out using a TV.

For sure! My daughters aren't really into console games only games on their cell phones so I had to convince my wife why I needed a monitor....haha. Luckily I rarely buy things like that for myself so she was alright with it. I was right there with you though, had a hard time giving in and buying a monitor just to play a game I already paid for. After playing on it though and seeing the difference it makes I have no regrets at all. Well worth the purchase and it makes playing this game a lot more fun.

I keep my brightness pretty low, if it's turned up my eyes hurt too.

40 something gamer here. Love the game good and bad. Not very good, don’t hit well but like to play. Anyway my daughter had a birthday a few days ago and asked for a monitor. Hmm I thought....let’s see what all the talk is about and I’m really surprised by the difference. I can actually turn on fastballs without guessing. Is the monitor gonna make me a World Series player? Lol not even close cause I go up hacking but being able to hit without super lag is amazing. To end story thanks guys and gals cause we now have two monitors....had to buy her another one.
I just purchased a 27 inch curved Samsung and I love it. I'm 48 and was worried about going from a 65 inch TV to the monitor, but it's awesome, especially playing Modern Warfare.
Only problem is my eyes are starting to get a little bad, I'm 48 so it is what it is. -
@ellway7751 that sounds like the exact one I bought.
-
I'm to the point where I want a future proof monitor for the ps5 and just order it early but idk what I need exactly.

Which monitor do ya’ll recommend?
There are a lot of posts on here regarding monitors people recommend but the one I got about a month ago is a 27" Asus VG278Q with 144hz and 1ms response time. There are a lot of good ones out there that would help with this game but I am completely satisfied with the one I have and it definitely makes a difference.
