I’m a junior too and have a 4.73 GPA but I’m a horrible procrastinator. Haven’t taken either of those tests yet
To be fair you spend too much time on trying to be top 100 in the world or whatever. Gotta learn to balance video games and life
lol u don’t need to tell me to learn anything. I do a pretty good job balancing everything. Just tend to procrastinate on school work. Also have irl baseball taking up a big chunk of time so honestly I do pretty much all of my schoolwork at school the day it’s due. There’s my balance
Well see where you are ten years down the line vs me, that doesn’t work in the real world
I mean, yes and no. In the "real" world as you put it, waiting till the day something needs to be done is inadvisable, but most people are able to compartmentalize things. I was constantly putting school off until the weekend it was due, but it didn't/doesn't effect other areas of my life now. How you treat schoolwork isn't indictive necessarily of how you treat other tasks.

I take my SAT on the 7th...how’d you get to take it on a Wednesday? I’d love to have my weekend freed up lol. I’m missing a dang tourney for this test lol.
Our school administers practice tests and I got a 1430 there, so I’m shooting for anything around there. I’m not gonna stress too much about it because in the end I don’t wanna go to a super prestigious school anyways

Congrads on the test prep, but I dont think you know how exactly Mitch is living his life. In "the real World" test mean nothing. They are important now to show some form of measurement for the next level, but years down the line when you are applying your knowledge to real life work and being social, cramming for a test isnt gonna be a real life trait that helps at all. Balance is key. But one persons balance isnt the same as the next. Sounds like Mitch is doing pretty well in school, has an active sports life, and is able to play video games. Balancing that type of stuff can be much more beneficial in real life stuff in the future.

I like this approach 100%
Freshman year I’d be studying my [censored] off when I really didn’t need to, and it didn’t do much.
Fast forward to this year, I’m balancing asb President, yearbook editor, doing the commentating for football/basketball/volleyball/soccer, but that’s not the best part.
This totally sidetracks from the convo, but I recommend volunteering in little leagues to anyone with free time. I swear it’s the best feeling in the world getting to see those kids go through the same experience most of us got when we were that age. I Umpired 60 games as a volunteer last year, between season and all stars, and you get to build relationships with the kids that you won’t find anywhere else.
Anyways, back to the topic, I’ve got a lot on my plate and my life is still so much better and relaxed than it would be stressing about just studying and having nothing else on my plate, for the sheer purpose that I enjoy what I’m doing. Obviously you can’t cut studying all together, but it shouldn’t be this 2 hour a day thing.

[censored], y’all are geniuses. I made high enough on the ACT to play ball at my local D3 and skate by there with a 2.8GPA

Congrats!!! Great achievement
1390 is an awesome score and will open a lot of eyes when it comes to college admissions. Strive for that 1400!!
Colleges will throw you significant tuition $$$ with a score over 1400 easing your financial burden for those 4 years (or more)... -

I got my bachelors from a "non-prestigious" school and I am getting my MBA at a very prestigious school. It is crazy to see the differences in job opportunities the undergrads at my new school see compared to what I saw as an undergrad. For example, investment banking and top consulting firms didn't even look at my undergrad program. After graduating from a highly ranked undergrad program, on average, you will see better pay, more responsibilities, an expanded network, and more open doors down the road. I know money is often an issue, but my humble advice (take it with a grain of salt) is to go to the best school you can get into that has the type of curriculum you are looking for. Addressing money: if you go to a prestigious school and you intend to major in something that is very employable (there are a few majors that are less employable than others, which you can research for yourself), the money will work itself out (i.e. you will be able to repay loans).

I mean since you never experienced the real world you can't really comment on it. Nowadays its all about who you know not what you know when it comes to getting good jobs. Graduated with a 3.9 in both my undergrad and grad. I have a great job but that's not to say a guy who went a different route as me isn't has successful or more successful than me. Honestly, SAT is a joke nowadays and doesn't actually test "real world" intelligence.

Success is in the eye of the beholder. How I measure success is through the virtues of happiness and comfort. There's no right or wrong way to do life, as long as whatever you're doing is making you happy and you can live comfortably.

You're right, in the real world everybody procrastinates. What people say and what people do are 2 completely different things. Went back to school at 38 and the amount of lies kids are told to scare them is insane.
