I really need help. I can't win in RS or Events.
-
I'm not the greatest hitter and I often struggle, but something's really off. I've had some issues before and said so with threads way back when the game came out, but its never been this bad.
Warning: Rant ahead.
One: I've been using offset zoom for a while after struggling with SZ1. Recently have switched to SZ2 to see if it helps at all. My record in RS and Events in the last week is just awful.
I've won two games out of my last 20. Those two wins were from guys prestigious players and quitting after they got their hits.
(Only played 2 RS games in the last week and I lost both - the last one to a bronze guy with a way worse team. There was some lag, but he hit had hit 4 homeruns by the 4th inning and I somehow couldn't so I quit. )
Two: My luck has been bad. I dont like blaming things on RNG, but the bad luck has particularly hit me on close games. Animations have been nasty. To top it off I'm playing players who are almost all prestiged like myself- and dont actually suck unlike me.
Things like Rollins botching a double play grounder at him which instead scores two runs, Rickey in center cutting off a single and no actual fielding motion being trigger - ended up being an inside-the-park-homerun to 49 speed Corey Seager, or my RF suddenly slowing and and a casual animation triggering for what needs to be a throw to the plate.
Flyballs hit my opponent to the wall result in my guy never locking on to catch the ball - even if he's there far ahead of the ball landing. It's an automatic double or triple. (That's insane when you think about it.)
I noticed that most of my good contacts and the few perfect-perfects I have gotten have been at em balls or outs. If I get a guy on base, I usually hit into a double play with the next batter.
Three: I'm already using a BenQ monitor and sometimes I switch between wired or wireless depending on the room. I'm constantly under or over the ball - and that's when I'm actually making contact by trying to guess the pitch location as the balls is about to come in, otherwise I'm swinging and missing.
Did something happen? Did I miss something? Stealth updates? A major patch I missed that tweaked fielding and hitting?
I briefly managed a decent stretch online where I'd win 30-40% of my games. How am I supposed to get anything near the Trout Collection if I can't grind event wins to even get any free players? (Ive managed 38 over these two events somehow and over 75% are from people prestigious players and quitting once they get their hits or innings. )
Four: I need some coaching or something - which is a bit tough time-wise when I think about it, because my wife flips out with how much time I already spend in the game. Ironically, I thought the more ABs and Reps over time, I'd get better. (At least that would maybe justify the time investment.)
However if there's little improvement, I don't know why I'm bothering to grind for any players at this point if I'm not getting anything with the current ones who are already good.
Five: This is starting to hurt my enjoyment of this game in general. I can't even watch guys like Koogs, Fuzzy, or even other content creators. It's enjoyable to see people hit and actually compete at the game, but it's not when it reminds me of the fact that I can't no matter what approach, pci setting, batting camera, or pitching camera I try. I can't even watch any of Kyle's stuff anymore.
The only guy I've now been able to watch is CBrev - because of the actual analysis, and KevinGOHD, because at least the content is entertaining when he loses. (I got the idea of zoom and offset zoom as an option from watching some of his gameplay.
Six: I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna pick up 21 next year. I already a decent amount of money into this game with the stubs I've bought and I'm not seeing a point to investing in this game or future versions of it with how un-enjoyable the online play has become - at least for me. (Not to mention all the time.)
If I wasnt worried about getting my PS4 itself banned, I'd be tempted to try and get a refund for this game and the stubs bought. That's how frustrated I feel.
Anyone else getting to this level of irritation with this game, or is it just me out on an island here? (Yes the content is amazing in this game, but if I can't actually ever compete or win in DD, I'm not sure what the point of bothering with that content is.)

I don't believe you're alone. And, don't automatically blame it on yourself. Just sounds like another day at the RS ranch.
Not trying to make light of it but..to reiterate. I suspect yours is the same situation as the majority. Highs and lows..but mostly parity. If you discover the secret of "getting better" at an RNG game let me know. I would be more than happy to follow your lead.

Take a day. Hell, take two. Gives you time to rinse your eyes. It works better than you'd think.
I had a couple rough losses earlier and said screw it rather than press through it. Drink a beer and laugh about it.

I just lost a game and I was wondering when the rng was gonna kick in. Two early hits and boom 3 run bomb on a pitch my opponent should have popped up. Nope and I’m sitting there hitting good goods that are line outs or deep fly balls .
-
I’m below average, my RS record is 60-51 but I’m hitting under .250 in RS games. One thing I did recently that has really improved my hitting was to start the pci on the outer half of the plate. It takes practice but I find for me that I hit the ball harder. It may be just me but I think you make better contact when not in the sweet spot.

I am at the exactly same boat as OP.
I'm really not great player (13-21 in RS), but I was able to get decent record in every All-star dificculty event, it was always between 40-50% wins.
In the first part of this event I was about 10-10, but in the second part I am now 1-12 and that solely win was from prestige quitter. I really can't understand what happened, did I become from under average player to total trash player overnight? Or is it just very unlucky slump?
Some games in this streak are really unlucky, sometimes I was facing just much better players than me, but still, this is not a fun.I love how in this game you can grind for very good team, content is great, but online I feel it is too hard for me sometimes.
I would take few days break, but I need still about 40 stars to get inning boss -
But you got a monitor. I thought that was the key to being amazing at this game?

Think at least for me I'm totally burnt out with this game. Haven't played RS since my first game think I lost not sure but the thing is I want to play just can't be arsed. Even the basic conquest games my timing is off so giving it a long lay off to see if that motivates.
Also people generally have all good teams now so that's one reason why there are more struggles than usual.
-
Sounds like you just need a break. Go play another game for a week or two. Rng and mistakes happen to every body. But right now you are lost at the plate. You have 0 confidence in the yourself and the game. It’s suppose to be fun. So step back, and breathe, and come back later. Change your mentality. It helps me when I get in a slump

RS this year has been tough.. last year I made WS a few times.. this year I topped off in CS the last two seasons.. But it's been tough.. this season i'm 6-6.. losing games I think i can win.. Keep at it? find a line up that works, don't always tinker.. that's what i've been doing.. it's tough since there is always great content being dropped... you'll turn it around!

I think the game is just in a bad state. I’m a fairly decent player at 117-74. I’ve made WS, and usually make Championship series. But for the past two weeks I can’t win to save my life getting terrible animations, no exit velo. The game is just so inconsistent
