Have the developers mentioned anything about lowering the foul ball rate in mlb 20?

I hope they do fix it. There Are battles at the plate in actual baseball, but it’s a few at bats a game unlike in this game.

The average foul [censored] per game in the MLB is 53.8. I've had many, many games with foul ball numbers by the other team, alone, are around that. So it BETTER change.

To answer your question though, the only thing they mentioned about foul [censored] in the stream was in regards to the PCI and the larger range of it and it's ability to foul [censored] off in a certain range. That leads me to believe, no they probably don't truly see that as an issue. At least I haven't seen them ever address it.

Foul [censored] and check swings are absurd.

I dont see the big deal in helping out button mashers who are just here to hit homeruns for their shot of dopamine..(sarcasm)

I think if it's anything like Beta, there won't be as many. I was still fouling some off where I shouldn't have. Hopefully pitching will be part of next years game.

The foul [censored] in this game are worse then the line outs. And the lines outs are horrendous. But the foul [censored] are just annoying. It makes really really bad hitters ok hitters. These are the guys that used to complain about “dirtballers” back in the days and said that SDS should MAKE PEOPLE THROW IN THE ZONE.

im probably one of those bad hitters lol. im not as bothered by the foul [censored]. so many pop ups are what I don't like. had a few games here and there where I popped out like 3 or 4 times in a row. when I get down in the count I switch to contact hitting. I think that makes a lot foul [censored].

I remember a dude made a whole thread about people not throwing strikes this year

It’s an insane argument. Everyone knows you EARN STRIKES with patience and not swinging at garbage. That’s just baseball.

I think SDS’ answer to that in attempt to make everyone happy was foul tips. Just my take on it.

the only problem I've had with the foul tips is after 5 or 6 your bound to groove one. have seen it happen quite a bit 1 and 2 4 foul [censored] then a homerun. I wont even front like it hasn't benefited me at times too. would like to see the VERY early/late swings eliminated

The other side of this is pitches getting sucked to the center of the plate. Sure, earn strikes by laying off junk, but the whole thing breaks down when pitches just randomly miss over the heart. Add all these things together and you get a very frustrating gameplay experience.

This is one of my struggle points. I throw pitches that seem to make no sense in terms of what I thought my input would yield. Aim high and at the corner and the ball ends up middle and over the plate. Same inputs and the ball goes where I wanted it (after the previous pitch got smacked to kingdom come).

I get that there should be some "randomness" exhibited when pitchers are tired or have poor confidence BUT not when that is not the case.

A lot of times I'm left shaking my head wondering how my inputs resulted in the pitch that was produced. I'm not great at the game but those things make us ~.500 players struggle even more because I dont understand WHY things are happening the way they are so that I can try and correct to prevent in the future.

Yes, exactly. The pitcher confidence seems to have a really big impact. On the one hand, the sometimes random outcomes can cause pitches to miss outside the zone, which makes confidence go down, leading to more meatballs.

On the other hand, try swinging early in the count vs pitchers attacking the zone and repeatedly line out or fly out to the track.

    Old news I guess.

This game is hot garbage in every aspect at this point. The best starters and relievers are forced by the rng to suffer through ungoldly at bats. I need to count foul tips one day and I’m sure it would be in the 50’s or 60’s. Keeps at bats alive to long

Agree 100%. The foul [censored] on very early swings on [censored] in the dirt are just ridiculous. Players have to be penalized more for swinging at garbage, and trust me its not just players i play, its myself as well. I've had so many games where I've fouled off pitches and literally felt bad for my opponent. The 10 pitch at bats are not as common in the real game as portrayed in this game.
