Sliding to first base

I don’t understand why people do that? It slows your runner down lol
-
I only do it if I'm trying to avoid a tag

Yeah that’s literally the only time I do that
-
Yeah, it immediately tells me the type of player i am facing. They are usually the steal as much as possible, bunt all the time types
-
I do it all the time on double plays on accident. I hit the button for my guy going to second to slide (which is pointless, I know) and it makes the guy going to first slide. It gets on my nerves bc it's stupid, but I don't think it has ever cost me a guy beating out the last out of a double play

I do it when I know I'm going to be out, just for the hell of it. I'm gonna be out anyway. Might as well get the jersey a little dirty. lol.
I'll also sometimes send a guy home so he's rounding first on a routine grounder. Just ways to not take the game too seriously. -
I slide into 1st when i know im about to be out, and thats usually unintentional. Bunt defense also cuts snakes heads off at the source... when somebodys fits 4 batters are Lou Brock, Tony Gwynn ALberto Mondesei and Jackie Robinson... you know this dude is gonna try to steal runs....... BUNT DEFENSE

Runners used to round 1st on hits to the outfield, even if it was really shallow. They could potentially get tagged out if the ball was thrown in quick enough.
It was particularly problematic on hits to right field where the 2nd basemen dove causing the 1st basemen to actually cover the bag.
I’m not sure if it ever got fixed, but I’ll slide into first in those instances just to prevent my runner from rounding the bag.
Also, while it may slow down the runner in real life, this game isn’t real life. I have a clip from 19 of Pablo Sandoval stealing 2nd. He started to slide about halfway to the bag and accelerated through the slide until he reached the bag. Physics doesn’t really exist in The Show.
