I know with the weekend coming up some people might just be hitting the 300 stars for the boss pick. I have a few thoughts after using them all for a few days now.

J-Roll. My initial pick. His style jives well with what I'm trying to do on my team, contact, speed, solid D. None of these 3 have affected the outcome of games more than J-Roll. My last game I won 1-0, J-Roll went 2-5 with 3 stolen bases and the winning run off a sac fly. He's as solid as it gets and will impact the game the most often of these 3 picks, he's is in a position to benefit greatly from prestige.

Stan. I put him at 1st replacing ortiz as he's much to slow to be an outfield consideration for me. While Ortiz was solid, Stan is an immediate defensive improvement and will get better with prestige. I was on a tear with him before I got a little lazy with my focus at the plate. His PCI is so big that it's kind of made me lazy. If I focus, he crushes everything. His lack of speed is an issue, but in my opinion he makes up for it with his RBI's. Personally I just have to pick and choose the slow guys as I don't want many of them on my starting squad.

Maddux. He has honestly surprised me. I got hit a bit in my 1st outing with him, but once I got better at using him he's been great. I was worried about his lack up velo but with his accuracy, a 93-94mph fb on the edges is pretty good, especially seeing as I typically use it as a break up/ pace change pitch. He doesn't have the kind of stuff that will blow you away but he induces a lot of weak contact. I enjoy using Orel, I really enjoy Maddux. Since the first game I don't think he has given up a single run. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep him but I'm sold on him now.

    Hope this helps some.

Would you say Rollins is better than Larkin? (If you used Larkin yet)

Awesome. This is exactly the kind of info we are looking for as all 3 look pretty good for the 6th inning.

Small sample size, but still actual use. Please update the thread as you play more with them.

This is a great breakdown for people trying to make their decision. I personally went with Maddox because I have my cap at short, j-roll would of probably been my choice but he lacks a secondary position, so kinda takes away from some value of him to me. I also have Thames at 1b, he’s currently hitting about .450 with 50 bombs, and I have thome as my bench lefty, so Musial is great but first is too loaded for me

This has been a big part of how I've built my main DD team this year and it has helped me offensively so much. The only players under 70 speed in my starting lineup are Jim Thome at 1B and Matt Wieters/Yadier Molina at catcher. I had Chipper at shortstop prior to getting Rollins but I've had to move him to the bench as my primary pinch-hitter.

I know whenever Frank Thomas comes out I'll want to move Thome over to 3B and Sheffield to LF, so that'll lower my team's overall speed but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

    Excellent post, though!

Havn't used Larkin yet, I pretty much rolled with Didi or Correa from the start. By the numbers they do seem pretty comparable. It would be nice if either of these had 2nd as a secondary though.

Rollins is far and away better than Larkin, and enough better than Yount to justify the purchase/pick.

If Frank looks like he did last year he'll kind of be like Ortiz, or slightly better with no defense. And if Gherig looks like he did last year he's very comparable to Musial, Musial bumps to silver at 1st with prestige. Not saying Stan doesn't get relegated to the bench at some point, being able to play OF and 1st is better coming off the bench, but someone like Gherig or a 19 sig Pujols would do the trick.

You think its worth waiting for Frank Thomas as a 1B or paying the 150k for Musial? I have Killabrew there rn

Rollins defense up the middle is better than any shortstop I’ve played with so far. He’s taken away 2 hits in 2 games that no one else would have gotten to.... maybe Larkin. But the 86 to 93 speed differential and maybe the arm strength (can’t remember attributes atm) make a difference.

I just got Musial for 117k. Should have kept my buy order for 90k. Probably could have gotten him in a day or few had I been patient.

I like the high contact and better D personally... You should be able to get Stan for 100 or less after this wknd when more peeps unlock him.
