Ive told the story here more than once, but i hit into 5 DPs in one single final boss Showdown.
That sucks, I had to change strategy because of the double plays. A lot of times when I hit and run I get a meat ball and hit it for a HR, I had 5 HR the other day in a stage 2 showdown and All had runners on base. I only steal or Hit and run in the following counts
2-1
3-1 i usually take the next pitch to see if I can get a walk
2-2
3-2
1-2
0-2With runner on 1st I always get to one of these counts.
Stealing on 0-2 and 1-2 counts are risky man
I hit and run on those counts, If I k I will have a runner on 2b, It is easy to steal on the pitchers in showdown even with guys with 50 speed. I does not work all the time anything close I can at least foul it off, if I have a slow hitter up The runner on usually has good speed, if a slow runner is on I have a hitter with good speed. This works for me been doing it for the last 3 weeks now been pretty successful with it. Especially in the 6th inning showdown Martinez and Maddux you could practically steal with anyone with 50 plus speed. and 30 plus steal.
Agreed here. The 6th inning showdown was the first one I've ever completed. And more often than not, I'm stealing with runner on first, making sure he has a lead at least or bringing in speed off the bench. If you can draft two speed guys who have really good contact that may be the way. And Maddux was kinda easy to pickup.. just sit off speed and sit low (the off speed also makes it easy to steal off of)
That low change up got rocked.
I loved it. I was thinking about taking him as my inning reward but if I can hit him, I'll get rocked using him online for sure
I pitched well with his original card, I think I would be ok with using him just have to not be predictable with pitches and location. I ma not a WS player, usually at 500-650 in RS.

It helped I had a all lefty lineup vs Maddux, I been playing it over and over and over just for the XP the stubs, 3 showpacks, and the Headliner
I'm going to try that. The one righty that I rocked with was Semien for some reason. I'll take him all the time now
i recently started using Polluck and he rocks, Pulls to LF and Left Center Hrs I was surprised. My first go at Maddux I had Olson, Soto, Alvarez,
-
I'm average at this game. I completed the 6th inning showdown in one try 12/12.

I do not hit well with Musial I think it is his swing, My best 1B this year from the start has been McCovey, so many walk offs with that card. I took him the first chance I got in the XP path.

I really like the concept of showdown and dont mind a challenge, really.... within reason.
I have yet to complete a showdown though. I have a handful of attempts with the AL Central Phase 1, as well as an attempt with Inning 1.
Its just such a major time investment for little benefit and it is VERY unforgiving. I would really love to do these more and more. It is just frustrating and would eat time.
I would like to see it tweaked a little.
Perhaps offer the ability to earn or buy a "continue". Purchase with 500 stubs, or maybe it would cost you a Silver player or something.
I had a hard time to but the last 3 weeks I have found a strategy that works and I am having fun with them now. I do not beat them 100 percent of the time, but showdown stage 1 and 2 i win 90 percent of the time now, and the 6 inning was the easiest of them all.

Rollins flys out to the warning track, Seems I could not hit the line drives to the gap with him, way to many fly outs hope you have better luck with him. Corey Seager Rookie card is freaking awesome wish his speed was above 50.

I'm average at this game. I completed the 6th inning showdown in one try 12/12.
You got the rare good draw from the slot machine. Don't pat yourself on the back, this entire game is about what the AI allows to happen.
Every swing of the bat could be an out or a homerun. As long as the ball is in the zone (and often times out) the AI will decide whether it's perfect/perfect, pop-up, early, late, very late, etc. And it's not based on controller input, it's based on the randomization built into the software.
So, if average you got it the 1st time...great. But, it's not your skill that got you there.
The same design is threaded through all parts of this game, but is most noticeable on the Showdowns and
-
Early on, I'd rather lose the one run from being caught stealing over hitting into a double play.
-
This is why I draft as much speed as possible, then power. I always steal with either 2 strikes or 2 balls
-
Speaking of not laughing. 2nd match of the 6th inning debacle. supposed to get 2 EBH to win. My first 3 batters get singles...on first swing pitches that I didn't even focus on. THEN the mysterious pop-up on a swing exactly like the first 3 singles. THEN, yep you guessed it, the 'ol double play. IT truly is laughable, but the kind that makes you want to cry.
I quit, and put another quarter in the slot.
-
Yep the showdowns even with the double plays are absolutely beatable. I honestly probably have a record of 10-12 or something like that. I’m probably around .500. It’s just strategy. Just makes me cringe that the programmers obviously are giving us the finger with the double plays. It’s not even debatable that the dice are loaded with those.

I like your words. The indicate a strategy. Makes sense on paper. But, here's the rub, when the slot machine comes up lemons that don't work either.
Quick point. The other day I'm using Henderson in one of the Showdowns. Fastest guy to ever travel the bases. it's a 3-2 count I send him..AFTER i've got 2 bumps off 1B. Double-play strike 'em out throw 'em out. The real KICKER? I was using one of the worthless "extra speed when stealing" power-ups.
No, strategy is not a factor. I wish it were.
