Shouldn't this Mike Trout at least be the best card in the game?

You are absolutely overexaggerating this,
90 speed is not "terrible"
Vision isn't the most important thing in the game anymore, contact is.
97 contact isn't "horrible".
I agree, Mickey is better, but no need to stretch the facts.
I'm just meaning comparatively to other cards out there- for the cost of this he should be tops in every category or at least close. Heck the card art isn't even as good as his regular card.

I walked out with a Trout, 550k stubs, and the GOAT bat skin pretty much for logging into the game. I can’t complain. Set your expectations a hair lower next time
I have no "expectations" it's my first year but after all the excitement the last few days this is as underwhelming as underwhelming gets.

To be fair, Honus wasn’t the best card in the game last year... but he was arguably the best at his position. Depending on how juiced Mays and Griffey will be, trout might only be the 3rd or 4th best CF this year.
he was absolutely amazing for me at SS last year i really enjoyed that card - i thought this year was going to be a babey ruthey or a griffey

Compared to other cards? Like what? Obviously Mickey
I think Larry is also in that conversation, but he lacks the speed
And PS George Springer to I guess
Comparing it to most cards, Trout comes out ahead in at least one or two categories when you compare his 5 tools to another cards 5 tools.

Oh I agree Honus was a monster last year and probably one of the 5 best cards in the game. I think I unlocked him about a month after he came out and he never left SS for the rest of the year. But he wasn’t completely game-breaking, which was good. He was a novelty and a cool reward for us hardcore grinders, but he wasn’t an auto-win card.
I hope babe is a boss or somehow attainable for free this year. He was awfully pricey last year.

well said and i completely agree with you - i try to run with that motif of the 'novelty card' in my team this year - franco you hardly see out there but i bust him out from time to time ya know?

Perspective and context: The game is playing well and content has been better than ever. This is quite a feat when considering the ongoing pandemic. Props to SDS.
SDS reads the forums and they should have lots of ideas for what people will be excited about next year. (Aaron, Clemente, Pedro, Johnson, etc.)
And hey, we still have TA4 coming.

Off Topic a little, but I love the Mantle card, but Mays last year was a better fielder for me at least as far as reaction time and gunning down throws. I don’t know if it’s this yeast game or what but a lot of times it seems as if Mantle takes his time when making a throw.

Absolutely— and I would still love to pick up Franco this year but I can only imagine he skyrocketed today with the SS collection requirements.
But speaking of “Franco” ... SDS needs to get Julio Franco in the game next year! That dude was a machine.

My first year playing but he seems underwhelming. He should be plus 100s in batting. Speed should be 95. Defense should be all 100s. I'm thinking if he has a good year his live card will come close to this master card. And if you did the mantle set you already have the live trout. I'll still grind away on the sets that can be done by just playing to get him but not spending a bunch of stubs right now.

Honus wasnt near the best card last year.

I almost feel like someone had a calendar notification pop up at 10
AM this morning that said “make collection” and they guy was like “I’m gonna go with a prestige version of LS Trout” and hit send. -
