Orel vs Wood
-
Every single aspect of this post is a "That's what she said" joke.
-
Which came first? Orel or Wood? Usually they go hand in hand.
-
I never preferred Wood. Don’t plan on experimenting with Wood anytime soon either. Orel hasn’t disappointed me in years though.
-
Orel vs Wood, cant believe no porno jokes were made here.
Anyway, Orel's stuff moves all over the place, very hard for people to hit.
-
For me its Wood, if you use him effectively its hard to hit off him. The speed differential between his fastball and curve makes people look silly

They are there. Look harder...

I havent used Wood but Orel is a master. I think he has the best Changeup that I’ve used this year. Extremely deceptive and drops out of the sky. Sinker has good motion and clocks in around 94.
Overall has great pitch selection. A fastball would be nice but I make everything that he has work and it works VERY WELL. Im 9-0 with a 1.98 ERA, .64 WHIP.

Orel by a mile. 4SFB tend to get hit hard. Sinkers, cutters, and 2SFB are the way to go. I’d also rank Leiter above Wood and Smoltz for this reason.
I have been contemplating Leiter. Does his stuff have good movement?

I have both and have used both pretty extensively online. Personally I like them both and they are very different pitchers. Wood has a great fastball, slurve, and cutter. I haven't noticed a ton of control issues on these pitches. The fastball and cutter have a good speed differential too which makes it a great pitch to keep people off balance and the slurve has nasty movement. He has a curve and change,, but I use them sparingly because his control really suffers.
If you can place Wood's change, especially on counts where they're thinking fastball, you can make people look silly.

I have been destroying people with Wood so far, outside of a couple times where lefties have got me. Through 25 IP he's got an ERA under 2, WHIP under 1, and 16 K/9 - he can destroy guys especially if they get aggressive and you hit them with the curve or changeup. I'm starting to kinda get better with Orel, while Leiter I might sell if I can't figure him out because he has been getting rocked.

I think the better pitcher will differ from hitter to hitter depending on their style. Personally I struggle with velocity and high fastballs but do pretty well against movement and low pitches so a guy like wood is much tougher to hit than orel. I haven't faced them much in RS but I have faced each a few times in events and I think I've done much better against orel than against wood.
It seems like most people on here prefer orel but I typically decide my pitchers based on who I would rather not face so I use wood
