A prime Maris would be disgusting he’d have probably around 115 contact vs both, 125 power vs both, 125 vision, high gold fielding bc he won the gold glove the year before, and they could prob give him 60-70 speed.

I hadn’t thought of maris but a few people have mentioned him and at first I didn’t think he would even be good enough for a collection card but they could do a pretty [censored] good prime card. He had a 4 or 5 year stretch that was pretty elite.

As good of cards as Gehrig, Griffey, Wagner, Williams or Ruth might be, I feel in order for this collection to really work well, it needs to be a New Legend they've been keeping in their back pocket like they did with Wagner last year.
DiMaggio was a Golden Era Legend in MLB 08, so he's been in the game before.

MLB 08 was before there were any licensing laws with player likeness though so the “he was in the game before” argument doesn’t apply

I would like a DiMaggio, but would his attributes translate well enough for a final collection reward? Power is king, and while the Yankee Clipper did have power, it wouldnt be as desirable as the big power guys. I would imagine his card to be similar to Dawson, but with just a little more power.
Edit:that would also make it Yankee CF for both major collection rewards.

I don't think that is exactly correct "publicity rights" or "personality rights" and the requirements to have authorization to use likeness existed long before the Keller v. Elec Arts citation, which is what I think you may be referring to. Keller used these laws already in place to state his case, EA was trying to skate by not using actual names, but all other likeness in the players were similar to the real players. This is how I understood at least, I'm no lawyer
However, that doesn't mean the ownership of DiMaggio's likeness hasn't somehow changed over the years, because he did drop off the game.

Roger Maris chased the homerun record with Mickey Mantle in '61. They made a movie about it. I think having Maris and Mantle on the same squad again would be cool.

I would Imagine that Dimaggio would look similar to SS Cobb of last year in the hitting department but with worse speed and fielding

I mean using “chase” for a rare collective is pretty common place. If we’re taking it literally, why not just assume it’s a fast I player.

Giving me two steroid options (Sammy and Mark) while denying me better steroid options Bonds and Clemens does not get me excited. Out of Hank Aaron, DiMaggio, or Maris, give me Hank Aaron and it isn't even close. Maris' 61 homeruns were by far his best (He hit 39, 33, and 29 as his three highest seasons). DiMaggio would have gotten close to 500 homeruns in my opinion as he lost his age 28, 29, and 30 seasons to fight a war, which surely impacted the rest of his career a good bit as well.
