@eatyum said in Sds just doesn’t get it with quick counts:

Sorry, they will make sure to only have quick counts in your favor now, every batter starts at 3-1

No, 2-1 is an even count. Two balls for a walk, two strikes for a strikeout. Definitely makes the most sense. Like OP said, basic softball rules.

That is reasonable I'll admit, I was just being a bit sarcastic because of the way OP presented the argument.

@Jholla31 2-1 is not considered an even count it’s a plus count...
If you want an even count it would be 1-1

The part I don't like is when a string of poor counts happens late in a game.

I'm under the impression the quick count goes in favor of whoever has the momentum at the time. For example, if the hitting team got a couple hits in a row or some runs they get a preferential count. The opposite goes for the Fielding team. I could be wrong but that's what I think.

Honestly, they should just make it consistent at 1-1 for every PA, I like quick counts but the randomness can be annoying

The only way we can judge whether the current method is realistic is to see the logic.

Have noticed this. Whenever I’m down in the last inning for some reason the majority of my counts start at 1-2. Just played a game where my final 3 batters all started 1-2. I mean at that point you might as well give the opponent the win if you’re gonna give me one strike against Dibble/Rivera/Chapman.

It just doesn’t make sense that you get a 1-2, 2-2 count with the game on the line lol

Yeah, starting an at-bat with 2 strikes when facing Chapman or Rivera, especially a 1-2 count, is basically a strikeout.

And the opposite, the amount of times on defence when I start with a 3-1 count and the game is tight, that's pretty much game.

The problem is not that it happens, it's that it happens too many times....and often times, it's the same player who is on the losing end of these.

I think they should randomly generate all the quick counts and make them the same against each team.

So generate 100 batters for example, each first ab is 2-1, each second ab is 1-2 etc

Last I checked you start with a 1-1 count in slow pitch softball.....

To be fair I'm pretty sure I've played at least a few opponents who were drunk at the time. At least their gameplay seemed like it.

I'd like to see every at bat start with a full count. One pitch, make it count.

Why IN the world should anyone have a guy start with a 1-2 count. What a joke. Make it like softball kinda. Start every batter 2-1. No reason me or my opponent should have a clutch situation and the batter starts 1-2. 🤡

Because the pitcher has good control or K9 rating and the hitter has lower discipline?
