Is this all just speculation or are things like this in writing from sds somewhere?

I've always kinda liked guys with good contact/power but low vision (I.e. trout every year or someone like bellinger this year). I'm not sure if they changed something for this year but it seems like a lot of other people on here don't value vision either

I am taking a screenshot from the in-game strategy menu and sending it to you.
for anyone else it's in: in-game stategy--> hitting--> page 8 of 8
-
Idk if I'm a moron but in the DD handbook that section doesn't exist, and I've looked for a main handbook in the Main Menu a couple times and can't find [censored].

Vision doesn’t matter this year. Contact is what matters and is the center of the PCI
what makes up the inner ring, the one that matters? contact?
It's not just contact though. Power also has a (minor) impact on the PCI size as well as the pitcher's H/9.
Did they put power back into affecting PCI size or are you just referring to the center dots? I remember them saying during pre release streams for 18 that power no longer would impact pci size.

No I'm fairly certain they said it does influence the inner PCI size some, but of course they didn't specify how it works precisely. The clutch attribute also affects the PCI size with RISP, but again we've never been told how it works exactly like percentage wise.

Anytime we chat about pci size and what certain attributes do, I remember a stream last year when Ramone was attempting to explain what the pci represented. It wasn't the barrel of the bat, it was.......... I still don't know because he stopped speaking human.

Vision affects timing window and outer pci for fouling off balls... but to be honest, high Vision guys 100+ just create too much pop ups and easy weak outs... Too low is not good either... I've found the sweet spot is right about 80 vision.
More should be better though but honestly, i haven't seen i that way this year.

This video made me rethink how I value vision vs contact...

@mistergraavy
Basically vision only affects your “foul tip PCI” whereas contact affects the inner or “solid contact” PCI. -
^ ^ yeah that 3rd outside ring is the only thing vision affects. This is why sometimes the most elite hitters can be hard to use as its almost easier to make weak contact. On the flip side. Occasionally you'll hit just outside the inner ring and the large vision can help sneak a ball out of the yard. But i find this to be extremely inconsistent.
