I'm a big fan of BrassO, really good product, easy to use. I use it to shine the bell on my desk that I use for big sales

I was thinking maybe a little spit shine and elbow grease but I’m not sure if that’ll do the trick

I refer you to the genius Bob Vila. If you’re unfamiliar, he’s like the Chuck Norris of home improvement.

Barkeepers Friend... It is a white powdered acid cleaner that is made for stainless steel, copper, brass, metals etc.

I have copper clad cookware that tarnishes, wipe this stuff on it with water and BOOM, copper looks brand new, like magic.

There’s one in every bunch.... this is just a buncha guys being dudes. I could tell you about Lou Brock’s hitting stats yet lack of serviceable defense all day but the true skill involved in shining up a bell with over 50 years of tarnish is truly priceless. Sit back and enjoy the ride

I want to get it but I just dont. If this was general discussion or off topic I would think it is real. But I cant find the relation to DD or get the joke. Is this from a movie?

That’s the true beauty of it. There’s no relation to DD nor any relation to any other pop culture. I don’t trust those in the general discussion or off topic threads. If you aren’t in the DD thread, you likely can’t be trusted... especially with regard to polishing a bell with 50+ years of tarnish

Here's a YouTube video on someone cleaning various brass pieces with Bar Keepers Friend... I use the powder but she's got the paste, I think the brass ducks she cleans are at great example.

I know it seems weird but the stuff is unreal.

Nevr-Dull. Used to use it on uniform apparel. Can make that old item shine like a future star.

Fun fact: many of the techniques being described are also useful for polishing doorknobs. Its important to polish your knob vigorously on a regular basis. Theres nothing more relaxing than a good thorough knob polishing.
