Wagner type collection.

I think with the market collapse and lack of need for lower level non LS diamonds, a big Honus Wagner type collection is close. Since Babe was a boss last year and Willie was last year's Mickey, they are the most likely choices. But since Larry Walker is in the game...I now think Jeter will be the collection reward. I am sitting on my cards for a while in case of a surprise Jeter release. The market for lower veteran diamonds that are dead will explode.
-
I'm definitely building up my card inventory for the eventual release, but I doubt it will be Jeter.
The reason it was Honus last year is that in real life, the Honus card is the most expensive baseball card in the world. Derek Jeter doesn't fit that mold, while his card price has gone up a bit since his HOF induction, his cards were produced in the "junk" era of baseball cards and don't hold to much value comparatively speaking. I think Babe Ruth makes sense, in terms of legends in the game, his real life cards are rather expensive, not as much as Honus or even Mickey, but those two are already out/ or were used for the collection last year.
-
I hope it's not another Yankee

I agree, but Jeter has an allure.

In name value, absolutely.
In stats value, I'd argue not. He'd have great contact and middle power, basically like Honus did last year, but he wouldn't have the defense or the speed. I don't think the cards stats would grab people and say "Wow I need to start that guy:
-
The only thing he would have a 125 in is clutch.
-
What about Clemente? Holy hell!

He’s one player I am shocked never in.

I wouldn't agree with it. But I could see them dropping at least somebody with a big name to keep people interested and spark excitement for next year. They had alot of people downloading the game later in the year last year.
Plus it's the year of the middle infielders, millz won't stop bringing up Jeter in every tweet... JETER CONFIRMED.
-
Honus just makes the most logical sense because his card is supposed to be a true collectors card.
-
This Jeter theory is legit. As one of the early posters that accurately predicted Honus last year, I will add that Derek Jeter signed a major deal with Topps Baseball Cards this past year and as been ALL over their Bunt Game online. The fact that SDS as has a very large partnership with Topps lends serious credibility to this. It would give them a major boost to game sales over the next 6 months for sure, and likely lead to him being the cover for next season as well as they launch onto multi platform.

mills is also a complete douchetard and downey soft

It would be pretty silly to lock in all those cards for a player that isn't good enough to make most lineups.

Agreed. Also, I don't know if it matters... But they have his name all over a silver bat and most people don't even notice. It's the silver "Captain Bat" and in the description it mentions Jeter by name. It probably means nothing but I thought it was interesting.
-
That a great catch. The fact that their is a Silver Derek Jeter bat in the game already, while it doesn't prove that Jeter will be this years, certainly makes it seem likely that there could very well be a HUGE program coming, that requires collections and also features moments. I'd certainly be buying up cards right now if I wanted a card like this (thankfully, I already have). These cheap cards will SKYROCKET if something like this is released.
-
Babe wasn't an inning boss last year, I believe he was the last WS award.

You are right. Babe was not a boss last year.
-
I'd be willing to bet that the release of this Derek Jeter (Honus Type collection program) was supposed to coincide with this years HOF induction ceremony, which would have been July 25th. I think we'll see this program released within the next 3 weeks.
