Are you talking about against the computer because unless it is a player lock the cpu gets you almost every time.

Ah, I never do that. I just tap it and let the CPU mess up for me.

Steal in the certain count, it depends on the catcher, The CPU pitches out alot, best counts to steal on 0-1, 0-2, 2-2, 3-1. 2-0, I never take the extra lead, Fake bunt seems to work. I do not hold down the L2, I just push ahead of time, If I get a bad jump I swing.

First thing to remember is just because they are fast doesn’t mean they are good base stealers. Look at the attributes first, if they have a low steal attribute you’re going to get horrible jumps. If it’s high (above 70) than you can reasonably expect that the way you’ll be thrown out is on a perfect throw from the catcher or a pitch out, unless the pitcher has been actively holding you on. If this is the case you’re jumps will not be nearly as good. Don’t try and manually steal especially in online play. Manual steal means you have to time the jump. If you choose the auto steal mode all you need to do is pull the left trigger and the computer will automatically steal for you and will give you the best jumps based on the runners attributes. Stealing against the CPU is terrible. A while ago I got an extra lead with Biggio, 2-0 count, pitcher used slow delivery, slider inside, and I still got thrown out by 2 steps, by Mitch Garver. I also pressed L2 a second time to try and get a better jump, but there was no response by the runner. I have stopped trying to steal because baserunning has been the weakest item of gameplay this year, imo. Even worse than fielding.

Left trigger press and release to tell runner to steal then hold down left shoulder. He will get good jump then

Don’t hold it just click L2 and let the computer do it. You can take a lead also last second and spring yourself into the jump

Yeah. @SDwinder uses the method that seems to work best for me. Point at the runner with the stick and hit R2. As soon and you see the pitcher start to wind up mash R1 and that seems to help them get a good jump. This isn't a fool proof way but it's the way that works the best for me.

Vs CPU, I’d do it with runners on 1st and 2nd. Whole lot easier, and twice the result.
Or you could just safety squeeze about any baserunner in from 3rd and it counts as a steal as long as you have it selected for him to steal home. Just get the bunt down.

What's the best method to steal when you're doing moments like the Jackie Robinson moment and playing in the player lock mode? I'm getting my three hits but struggling to steal the two bases.

Once pitcher sets hold R2. Then press L2, L1 twice. Wait 3 sec then release R2. Will work everytime with a player 75+ steal/speed. And sometimes slower.

Since the CPU batters are quick counted after you get on just try to steal at every possible chance and hope for the best. I don’t take a lead off of first but on second it appears the computer will allow you to take a lead.

If you are player locked, do not look at the opposing pitcher. Look at the opposing catcher. The second he makes any movement take off. I usually don't take any steps off base. I just do the lean.
So lean... Catcher moves and go.
