Or you can learn to hit same handedness and this will never be an issue again.
Exactly. The only ones advocating for this are people that struggle to hit same handedness. Practice and get better. Stop looking for a easy way out
Lol not the case at all. It's called strategy bruh. You don't think managers start certain guys depending on if a lefty or righty is on the mound?
Again, just learn how to hit same handedness. Problem solved.
Trust me that's not a problem. Just like adding more strategy based aspects, and it's nothing that doesn't happen in real baseball every single game.
You know what's real strategy? Constructing a balanced line up because you don't know who you're going to face. Making a platoon line up is not strategy, that's self explanatory and everybody and their momma can think of doing that.
I'm not saying use all lefties vs right handers and all righties vs left handers. It's simple baseball you noob. In Franchise modes there are lineups you can set vs each hand, but you still have to use the same 25 man roster. Just like in real life. I want this game to be as real as possible, and that's how professional managers do it. No need to get butthurt that you don't know the game.
I stopped taking you serious after you called me a noob. I'm open to any form of debate, but that's hilarious that you of all people call me of all people a noob.
Whatever floats your boat brotha, not gonna get petty. You just seem awfully defensive over a simple baseball strategy
Me? Not at all, I just tried to explain why it shouldn't matter. You on the other hand start calling me a noob for no reason at all. And if I were in fact a noob and you well above my level where I could learn a thing or 2 from you, then I still wouldn't appreciate it but I could see how you could think that. But I just looked you up and that's certainly not the case here.
Maybe not defensive but the whole “get good” response isn’t very friendly when it’s just a strategy being discussed. No one has said they can’t hit same handedness and no one is saying they want lineups all lefty or all righty

I wasn't calling you a noob at this game, but a noob of MLB if you think guys can just "learn how to hit same handed pitching" in real life.
But..... they can.

Of course they do. But they won’t put 9 straight righties or lefties like 90% of this community would do
You would still be limited to 13 hitters, it's not like they'd be separate 25 man rosters. You could only have 9 righties at the expense of your lefties (or have a bunch of switch hitters) which is the same as how MLB works.

I can hit same handed, but there's no point in putting myself at a disadvantage against elite pitching just for the sake of it
Well since it goes both ways for you and your opponent, what does it matter? If you can hit same handedness you should actually have an advantage, no?
Because I naturally prefer a batter at the plate who hits .300+ opposite handed for me instead of a same handed batter hitting for a lesser average. That "advantage" would only exist if switch hitting was hypothetically banned and all of us were forced to use single sided batters. I'd imagine most would rather face Britton\Sale with a righty at the plate instead of a lefty

See that's where we have a different approach. Instead of asking to change the game because I would rather have an advantage with the match up, I embrace the challenge of hitting lefty/lefty or righty/righty.
This also actually ADDS strategy, opposed to what the other guy said earlier, because you can construct your lineup so that you will have at least 1 and maybe even 2 favorable match ups per inning, now that the 3 batter minimum is implemented. And you could even bring in an opposite handed batter in late game situation, which is another layer of strategy.
-
There’s different strategies for both scenarios. I hit same handedness fairly decent so the only thing that would change for me is just the order of my lineup and maybe 1 or two different players in my lineup. Which is generally the only thing that changes in the real MLB too.
-

They also don’t bring in starters in relief like 99% of the community does, yet we have that joke of a strategy now...
And for those that defend it saying it’s like a playoff game where you see teams bring in starters, that strategy doesn’t work that great, just ask dodgers fans
Even with them allowing righty/lefty specific lineups won’t actually work. The fact that you can bring starters in relief negates this whole argument. Say my starters have almost no energy but I have a lefty on my bench who I don’t like throwing that much, I can start a crappy righty, force the system to put in my opponents vs righty’s lineup and then face three batters take him out and put in the lefty and have the advantage the rest of the game

More power to you if you embrace same sided hitting, but my all switch lineup gives me a platoon advantage in every at bat instead of settling for 1 or 2 favorable match ups an inning. It's a difference in approach like you mentioned

MLB players get benched against certain-handed pitchers. The people on here saying "learn how to hit same handed" are trolls. They understand strategy but like to sound arrogant and better than everyone else. I think having two line-ups makes perfect sense. And yes, I can hit same handed, but most players in the game have more contact and power against the opposite hand. Period.

Okay, first of all I'm not a troll at all. And by saying that someone who opposes your opinion is a troll, does not make your opinion carry more weight. That's just middle school rhetoric.
But I do have an honest question for you based on your comment:
If I am better than you and I say this out loud, not to brag or to bash you, but merely as a reply to what you yourself implied, does that make me arrogant? Curious about your perspective.
-
There's a reason platoon players exist in real life... I hate carrying someone who mashes from 1 side to only use as a PH. It's a stupid workaround they put in years ago to stop people from quitting games when they see their opponent's starting pitcher's handedness. They don't even need to go as far as having preset lineups (based obviously on your 25 man squad) if they would at least show you in the set lineup screen if you are facing a LH/RH. Otherwise all these guys with trash stats from 1 side never get starts.

Your first comment was "Or you can learn to hit same handedness and this will never be an issue again," implying that the poster somehow did not know how to play the game. Of course it will be an issue:
Having specialists against RHP and LHP is a part of the game. To imply they just need to learn how to hit was condescending and shows a lack of understanding of baseball, to be honest.
Even the best player on this game (whoever they may be) knows Hank Aaron is going to hit a lefty pitcher better than Babe Ruth.

@esmlb_rop said in 2 preset lineups vs LHP\RHP:
Starting pitchers can be brought in as relievers at any time now at preserved stamina, so it shouldn't be an issue seeing potential opposing lineups of all same handed hitting (with the opponent's dilemma of burning through their bench early on). I have an all switch hitting squad so I'm not really affected by the forced use of a single main lineup, but it would still be nice to start certain players higher or lower in the order depending on pitcher handedness.
I don't see the problem with having 2 default lineups that lock in pre-game (utilizing only the 13 position player pool in a 25 man roster). No backing out after the loading screen revealing both teams comes up
Love this idea

Okay, maybe not the best example. Ruth has better number than Aaron against both, but Aaron hit better against lefites, and Ruth hit better against righties.

I’m totally for this as managers in real life have the ability to use their roster to set up a lineup against that day’s opponent starter. If you’re arguing against this in any way and only saying “git gud,” it’s a bad response. All the OP was saying is it would be nice to be able to do this with a 25-man roster (not have completely different lineups) and I don’t see the problem. It would be nice and I agree.
Something also mentioned in here brought this to mind: why can’t we see the opponents bench? We can see their bullpen but not the bench. In real life, you know what bench players the opponent has. If you’re Tony LaRussa, you know if your opponent has and can go to Kirk Gibson in the late innings if they choose.
I can hit same handed and gotten much better lefty-lefty this year and I have a really good main lineup. But it would be nice to be able to platoon in one or two spots.

You completely missed the point I made throughout this entire thread, which is impressive in it's own way. Basically what I said is that I understand that it's easier to hit opposite handedness and I know in MLB most guys hit better that way too. It's common knowledge. But instead of asking to change the game for that reason, you could just embrace the challenge of hitting same handedness. It's the same for everyone so nobody has an advantage. And you can always use switch hitters exclusively if it's THAT big of a deal for you, like the other guy said he does.
-
In 16 The Show, you could see if you were facing a righty or lefty before the game started. You could change your lineup prior to the start of the game and fill your lineup with all righties of lefties. People complained heavily because most people would bail before the game started if they were facing a lefty starter. This is why it forever changed. The fix now is load your lineup with switch hitters. There are enough diamonds in the game to load your lineup with switch hitters they are not always high diamonds though.

Most people arguing about this probably didn't even play 16 so they wouldn't know this was once a thing that got a ton of criticism.

If this was the case, why wouldnt someone switch after 3 batters? Start a righty and switcbb to a lefty.
