Dale Murphy

Has SDS ever given murph a secondary of c? He played a lot of his earlier years at that position. They are giving phantom pitches to cards that never used those pitches and kyle gets secondary of c and he has never actually caught in game before. I don't see why they wouldn't give him one.

You know a couple of years ago, I think it was the show 18, I put Murphy in at catcher, just assuming that was his position.
Then he's dropping 3rd strikes, letting balls get by him etc and so I'm like why is he so bad at catcher? I check his card and he's not even listed as catcher, so I was like oh, that's why he's so bad behind the plate.

I am hoping they give him the secondary. That is the only way i get to use him for a long time. He won't make the outfield or be a bench player but dang he would be an awesome spot at catcher considering he stole 30 bases as a catcher too. Jimmy fox would be the only better option in my opinion (assuming he gets the secondary of c).

One of his cards a few years ago had catcher as his primary. It wasn't a very good card overall, but he was fast for a catcher and I had him on my bench as a potential pinch runner for whoever my regular catcher was. So if he gets a signature card I'd think a catcher secondary would be a possibility.

I hope so. The only way he makes my team is as a catcher.

Murphy had a Silver card that was C-1B. pretty sure it was his Rookie card in 17 or 18

I think it was a Rookie silver that was used quite a bit during Events.

That sounds right.

Murphy is my favorite player and hope he gets the secondary. He is the fourth best brave of all time behind Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, and eddie matthews. I guess you could put chipper and glavine ahead of him but that is a toss up to me. He was a top 5 player for about 6 years and had 2 mvp seasons. Injuries caused him to not get the numbers to be a HOF'r even though he probably should still be in. HE won't make my team as anything other than a catcher unfornuately tho. I will still play with him some but not much. Anyways appreciate the info.

Maybe you can include one of the greatest pitchers ever as well, not just Braves pitchers, in Gregg Maddux?

I don't really include guys that were signed as free agents. Maddux is a better all time player than murph of course. I know others will include him and that is cool. He just isn't on my list.

Ah, so you were just including home grown Braves? Got ya. I can respect that. But man, you had the best pitcher I ever seen. I am only 43 so I didnt see or remember anyone before the late 80's into the 90's. But Maddux was a master. I would probably go maddux, R Johnson and Pedro as my top 3 SP I ever seen.

Murph never played catcher, even in the early days of his career. The Mets gave him a look in LF, never catcher.

He had a Rookie Catcher card in 17, but unfortunately did not have Catcher as his secondary on his SS last year. So I don’t think he will.

I guess I was lucky. I saw Koufax, Drysdale, Sutton, Marichal, Ryan and a few others pitch in their prime. I’m quite a bit older than you. One guy that probably no one had ever heard of or remember Is a guy who pitched for the Reds in the 60’s named Jim Maloney. This guy threw gas and I mean he hit 100 when no one else was touching that mark. Arm injury derailed his career.

Dale Murphy spent his rookie season as catcher before he was moved to first base and then eventually the outfield!!! He was moved because he was too tall and couldn’t control his throwing arm. Dale Murphy is in no way a catcher For a secondary position. I remember how bad he was at that position.
