Google John Olerud and read up. BTW, I did this with Gossage yesterday because that PR card design is not an actual Topps design.

He had a brain hemorrhage when he was in college, wore one in the field the rest of his career. Do research before disrespecting somebody. Also, probably the best college baseball player of all time! All American pitcher and 1st baseman

I've seen a third basemen doing that this year in rtts. John Olerud's was to protect from another aneurysm.

Yes sir! He was an incredible college player, and didn't play a day in the minors.
The Jays (Gillick) drafted him and immediately traded McGriff and Fernandez for Alomar and Carter to free up 1st base..

In a way, you can credit Olerud for back to back WS titles much more than just his stellar play

Wait... was he wearing a catchers mask? Or just the helmet?
Johnny-O rocking a two-piece mask, now that would be awesome.

Yes full on catchers mask at 1B. But when I watch the reply it's gone. Pretty weird.

I'm not sure when or how we disrespected Olerud in this post. Someone always making something out of nothing I guess.

to be fair i often see the catcher just wearing a hat behind home plate. This is the 3rd year this has happened. Tells me what they really think of RTTS

Google the time that Rickey Henderson asked John Olerud, in New York, about using a helmet in the field, asking him if it was a trend; he forgot that he played with Olerud in Toronto lol.

Also google Rickey Henderson putting his $1M cheque in a frame before cashing it and then finding out years later that it was too late to cash it haha.

I just saw that in a game. I thought the C was really brave to only be wearing a hat behind the plate.
