Are Ducks on The Pond Packs Worth it?
-
I got the free pack on 100 win in event pulled Greinke sold him for 34k and bought the new pack haven’t opened it yet but figured the first card was free so only cost me 1k to buy the pack. Anything I get is profit. Hoping for good luck.
-
I regret buying them. First pack I opened I got Rodney (6.5k on marketplace). Picked him because he will at least make my roster. 2nd pack I at least got Greinke and sold immediately. Overall I lost 35k stubs.

First time around they were. Now that the pool is more diluted so no. Odds are too low for your to make back your stubs.
It's interesting to see the different perceptions of risk assessment.
I personally didn't buy them the first time around because the high tier was only going for around 60-70k, so I didn't see risking 35k for such a small profit as worth it. Even though there was a safer floor because the lower tier was 15kish.
When I saw the elite tier prices at 200k, I thought it was a better gamble, sure it's 1 in 10 instead of 1 in 4 making a profit, but it's a much bigger profit. I bought one pack, pulled the elite and didn't buy the second
Obviously I got lucky, I could have easily lost 30k there.
I don't think your or my interpretation of what's worth risking is the one right way, I just thought it was interesting how people interpret risk. -
Free packs are [censored] near bot worth, so ya ducks on the pond definitely not worth it, but...

It's tempting, but I wouldn't do it. Like an idiot I keep doing it and always end up in the negative. As I have been saying forever, the only people who consistently get high diamonds/elites are the shills who pour their bank accounts into the game. SDS has transaction coding so the more you spend the better chance you have for those. Don't be that guy
That’s all bull****. I’ve spent over a thousand each year, the last three years, and have horrible pack luck.
-
In a word: No
In a more in depth explanation: No packs are ever worth it, except for free packs.
You are almost always better off just purchasing the card you want rather than hoping to pull said card. Even if you happen to get lucky and pull the elite round, yes you'll be up stubs temporarily but if you extrapolate the odds over each time there is a release you will always.... ALWAYS take a loss.
Remember, packs are gambling - like playing in a casino - and the house always wins...

Yup... 100% Bull. It's all luck. I've also pumped a ton a money each year and my luck has been horrible until this year. This year I've gotten enough Diamonds from free packs to make up for 17-19. Even got Trout, Yelich and Sale in back to back to back packs. No, I'm not Ramone or even friends with him lol.
-
Not for me... I finally broke down and bought 2 last night and lost at least 50k. I have had zero luck in packs this year though, even my diamond pulls have been 8k at best. I wanted Salvador Perez and that was one of my pulls... so I guess could have been worse???

There are always outliers, I speak with factual knowledge!

100% No. 1 out of 10 chance is not worth 35k.

i got the common round in the first one.. played events till i had 35k and risked another one and i got the elite round.. i got very lucky lol it was stupid to open even one of them in the first place.. not worth the risk

Yes totally worth it if you pull elite, just like buying regular packs are worth it if you pull trout.
Never buy packs...

For me anytime there are packs with a smaller pool I'm more willing to take the chance on them. As soon as they start introducing packs with 3 tiers I don't trust the weight on the elite tier and mid tier usually won't return your money at that point. Nice pull on the one you bought. I pulled what was the top tier once the first time around and then 2 of that same tier the second time around. Just holding the most recent two for now until they go back up a bit. Ended up just buying Banks and Chapman.
-
Honestly for me they have been worth it, bought all four and went 2 for 4 pulled the better round one out of the first two and then pulled the elite round one out of the second two, wish I would have sold Greinke and then bought him back for sure but still way ahead with Chapman going for 180,000ish.
-
I’d say if the mid their guys were worth more like 40k it would be, but even they are a loss right now. You’re 90% likely to lose stubs, so probably not worth it. I came real close - the allure of pulling a card worth almost 200k is real. But then I thought of A) how mad I’d be if I pulled a 6k card and B) how likely that was to happen and walked away.
