What is the Beta?

I see on here that the Beta is mentioned all the time and i have no idea what it is

Basically it’s a test for next years version of the game, testing things like hitting engine, servers, defensive animations etc. It gets given out to too many people who don’t provide good feedback. Hopefully this year a very small number of people actually get invites.

I think the past problem has been that people chosen have just not been in it for the right reason. They just want to say they were in the test and just open up tons of packs. I think some just see it a chance to play (and not critique) the game.

People need to focus on the gameplay and pitching and hitting mechanics and give constructive feedback.

I hope that it works in a positive way this year.

I also think they should open it up to overseas players to help iron out bugs on the server side of things.

We want feedback from all fans, even the fans that don't actively post their feedback as the data helps us identify issues with online play. The more people means more variables and corner cases that can be identified.

But remember, it is a Closed Beta, so no public discussion.

If what you are saying then I wonder why I have never been invited. I have played MLBTS since 2009. Could it be because I only play RTTS which is off line? The hitting engine, defense and base running is the same I would think

I think literally everyone who ever touched the game was invited to play the Alpha version in January. I didn't get an invite for Beta for 18, though.
