42, been using SZ3 since 18, used SZ on 17. I tried going back to SZ, because I felt like I hit better on 17, but honestly it didn't change anything for me. I honestly do not know why I cant hit any FB over 97mph online unless I completely sell out for it. But seeing the zone isnt my problem at all. I do chase low a lot, because I look low, because lower pitchers are slower and easier for me to time.

I have a tough time tracking lateral movement with SZ, though it is much better for your timing. I have a tough time being on time with SZ2, but its the easiest for pitch recognition. I switched to SZ High the other day and feel like it's a good compromise between the two.

Anyone else feel in this years game some of the other hitting views are more viable than SZ? I’m most likely on the older side of the player base of this game (43) and I feel like it’s terribly difficult for me to react to FBs on SZ. It seems easier to read and react on other cameras like Zoom or SZ3. I’ve been exclusively a SZ camera guy over the years but I’ve been gravitating towards Zoom recently. Anyone having success (making WS) on other cameras than just SZ? I know all of the “pros” that stream use SZ but man, it’s just so tough for me this year. I’d like to hear some success stories of people using other cameras, assuming they’re out there!

I’m thinking this whole game is overrated.

Playing around with this a bit now and trying to find something. Curious, do you think you more (or less or same) time to react on the cameras that are further back?

What is the benefit to SZ high opposed your normal SZ. Not sure I can go to the ones that are a lot further back. Trying SZ 2 right now as that seems to be a middle ground option.

Personally, I find it much easier to recognize movement with SZ High vs. SZ, though it is all a preferential thing.

If you are struggling with hitting the fastball (always late), you need to play on a monitor.

Following this thread. I turn 49 this weekend and love playing, but just not very good at hitting. I struggle with moving the PCI right on the ball and when i do I’m often late as mentioned above by others. I’m definitely going to try some different cameras now that y’all have mentioned it. I’ve been using SZ past 2-3 seasons.

Let us know what type of success you’re having and what camera type

I think with the other cameras it’s easier to judge break. You can actually follow the break of the ball with the more zoomed out cameras. With SZ it seems a little slower coming in but IMO pci placement is more difficult. Try zoom or SZ3 and let us know how you did.

This is honestly what I believe. And I find it utterly ridiculous that we should have to buy a gaming monitor in order to play a game. So instead I just take my losses and move on.

This is true. No other PS4 game requires a monitor

I've been using strike zone for years and I do feel it's the best camera to use if you want to play competitively. It's not the best from a visual point of view, I would prefer seeing the whole batter, but it is most definitely the best to pick up on pitch type and pitch location.

Have you tried any other views in RS competitive play?

37 years old. I play on a 50 inch tv that "has a gaming mode" but the tv is 10 years old so I'm not putting much value in that setting.

I'm a division series player, and I'm 100% okay with that. I can't keep up once the difficulty switches to HOF.

This year was the first year I switched my hitting view to anything other than default. I decided to switch because I found myself doing better if I sat closer to the tv, so strike zone 2 became my go to. Recently I switched to straight strike zone and have had a decent amount of success. It probably isn't making that much of a difference, but my couch is more comfortable to sit on than my coffee table so if I can sit further back I'll take it as a win.

Yes I have. Strike zone 2, Strike Zone High, Zoom, Zoom Offset, The Show 15, The Show 16 and Fish Eye.

I've found that if I complete a showdown before a ranked season game, I'm more prepared for fastballs even though they come in faster in rs. I think just hitting for 20 outs or whatever takes to score the runs, gets my brain in hitting mode

I too was struggling on SZ, I switched to SZ high and immediately hitting better

I switch between SZ High and SZ Offset I'm getting lots of inside pitches. If I'm really struggling, Zoom and SZ 2 help.. all depends.

Great to see the folks 40+ checking in.

As a 47 year old, I too am saddened by the fact I play better with the monitor vs TV. It's worth it though. COD is better on the monitor too.

I use SZ 2 or 3. I also use that to pitch with. I find that watching my own pitches helps me recognize when they are coming at me. Having the same POV helps.

Interesting. I’m older than you and the eyes are starting to go. Plus, I play on a big older tv. I can’t time any decent fastball. Played last night against Graterol and had no chance. 97-plus fastballs or 95-plus sinkers and I got nothing. Either I’m late or I have to swing as the pitch is released and I can’t place the PCI (or lay off bad pitches). And Graterol had like a 20-plus speed difference last night on his offspeed (maybe I was facing a good pitching player).

Do you think it has anything at all to do with your reactions, or more to do with the AI deciding you are going to strike out? I've been in the very same situations with opponents that just keep throwing those high, but in the strikezone, 98+ fastballs. I actually place the PCI exactly where he throws them and still get the same nonsense animation. It's not your reactions it's the AI just determining you aren't going to hit the ball. Sad, but true.
