Greinke has a sinker
-
Wonder what the thought process at SDS is :
Customer service team : People are complaining about high sinkers being OP and glitchy.
Dev Team : Let's give sinkers to every pitcher we release and not fix it.
-
Got a rare and a standard went with Grienke and Rodney looking forward to using both.
Then I bought Kingman because why not.
-
I got a fever! And the only cure is more Sinkers!
-
He has a sinker and they changed his mechanics

I just noticed this, they changed his windup and his stretch lmao.

We need that gag 50mph eephus pitch he pulls out once in a blue moon.
-
Made it to world series last night, did it on a grand slam off a low Kluber sinker- so they can be hit... with that said, the every pitcher getting a sinker theme is a little silly.
-
He actually throws 8 different pitches. So giving him a sinker isn't that unbelievable..
-
Probably because 2 seamers don't work in this game

Lol yeah they gave Greinke, Rodney, and El Duque a sinker. Guess sinkers aren't getting a nerf anytime soon.
Fernando Rodney has thrown a sinker his entire career and greinke has thrown some sort of sinker/2-seamer the entire latter half of his career (largely due to his dip in velocity, his 2-seamer likely has some dip in it that previously was non-existent)
-
They should have done the opposite... turned all sinkers into 2-seamers and tweaked hitting from there. It's dumb when I don't want to use a pitcher without a sinker because that pitch is such an outlier.
-
“We can’t fix two seamers and four seamers are meat, so let’s just give everybody sinkers this year.”

It's sort of a tomato, tomahto thing drawing the line between a sinker and a two seamer. But neither have ever had a sinker in any iteration of MLBTS until now.
If you were to ask me based on trajectory alone, I'd say both throw a two seamer. A ton more lateral movement than vertical.

Why does everybody think nobody has ever thrown a sinker?
Greinke in 2009, seems as if he threw ~550 of them:

I hate Sinkers but imagine pitching in this game without one. Every game would be 15-14. Me personally I can’t pitch well without a sinker (actually I can’t pitch well with one I stink). The sinker keeps players honest which is why I think they give one to every pitcher.

Dude we know he actually throws sinkers/two-seam fastballs. But historically in-game, Greinke had a 2SFB up until this card. Despite the pitches normally being almost identical in-game (2SFB tops out at 97 and is more side-to-side) this year sinkers are just far more effective.
