I hate ranked seasons because of this. It feels like whoever has the weaker lineup gets the favored outcome. I played someone recently that had a losing record and .231 average. My average in ranked is .301. I had 16 dead or near dead center good/okays for outs and lost the game. I usually can tell early if I am going to lose when I start getting an obsessive amount of good/okay and my pitches float down the middle despite perfect input. It sucks because online play is my favorite but it's ruining it for me.
There are a ton of tell tale signs that show you will probably lose the game. If they don't exist, it is usually a very early quit for my opponent. If they are, I am either going to lose or it will be a dog fight.
Jumpy pci when hitting
Good/good+ rarely results in hits
Throw either down the middle or ball - jumpy pci when pitching
Opponents get hits on everything
Strikes on corners
Fielding blunders (quite a few different ones)
Base stealers get very poor jumps
Extra long or very slow returns when rounding a basePretty sure there are a few I am forgetting but when you see these signs it is best to cut bait and quit or you will get get frustrated and it is a complete waste of time. The ONLY way to win these games (which is possible) is if your opponent swings at balls outside the zone or can't hit pitches down the middle. Based on these, I can usually tell within the first 3 innings whether I am going to win. Game is extremely predictable if you pay attention to the signs.
Whilst I can’t argue against your summation I just wonder if the opponent is getting similar signs and if both players ever feel like they will lose the same game.
I'm sure. That is why there is no joy in this game. Game feels 100% connection based. I can assure you pitching rebel isn't going 250-20 at my house. I would bet my house on it and feel 100% confident that is a sure thing. It won't be fixed until they go to ping based match making which I don't see happening.
I know softball is ramping up again so I won't be playing as much. I wouldn't of even bought this if not for the pandemic. Also will more than likely be getting into Last of Us 2.

look the game plays poorly this year - its not the end of the world - you get to play videogames that is more of a luxury than the majority of ppl in the world
we all lose games but its how you handle your L's that define your character, especially on this forum too out of all places

I can't even make it into WildCard (I made DS in 2019, CS in 2018).
I think my over 50 reflexes are too slow to play this game competitively, even with a Gaming Monitor.
Continual lineouts and sharp ground balls when I get good contact. I just can't get enough "Perfect/Perfects" with my 94 to 99 hitters. Keep getting stuck in the 500's, I am a weak player...

Opponents dont ruin it. RNG ruin it. I’m okay losing to someone who outplays me. Tip my hat to them. But losing when even your opponent text you telling that his swings were awful and he apologizes. That shouldn’t happen.

I can’t begin to explain how mad I get when throw a good timing pitch that should be low and inside 2 feet outside when I clearly did not give it the input to throw 2 feet outside with bad timing.

Couldn’t agree more. You forgot the check swings. The game prevents your opponent from striking out by fouling pitches on terrible timing or bad pci work and also by check singing a lot. Usually the game buys time until you hang something and boom! Tomahawk.

I would love to see a Ranked Seasons-type mode with 3-inning games, where you use your team. My main issue is I cannot always guarantee I can be on the couch for a 45-minute game watching my opponent click in and out of the pause screen two dozen times..

I feel you. I can’t be on the couch for 45 minutes watching my opponent’s bad input get rewarded.

What is wrong with conquest? It is really rewarding and relaxing in my opinion!

I had a guy do it every batter today for 30 seconds in the last inning when he was losing I assume hoping I quit.

Another one I noticed in '19. (Still playing) is the announcer will say something random. He will announce the play in real time. Catch is made and when he is throwing it in..matty v will say something like " oh and he cant get to it "...then the hitting feedback will be good/good
-
I've also noticed
- successfully calling pick out for catcher to drop on transfer...or dropped at second
- opponent making baserunning mistake and fielder hesitating to make throw
- the 30" vertical crow hop from OF to give baserunner that extra step
- opponent fouling off balls off the feedback screen

What's even worse is when your opponent knows he is outmatched but he wont quit because rng is keeping it close and he is only 3 outs from the 6th inning starting and things starting to go his way

Amazingly, really good players do not have the problem of a weaker opponent beating them. Hmmmm.

Well their records are insanely good. So if you are losing to weaker players more than winning, then you just are not as good as you think.

Pretty sure there are a few I am forgetting
Double-plays every time you get a guy on 1st. This is regardless where you make contact. In real MLB you hit the ball on top it typically results in a grounder. Hitting the bottom sends the ball up. There is absolutely no way, when AI decides it's DP time, to prevent it. Sometimes a strike-out is actually better.
Pitches you know you throw on the corner or outside with a perfect pitch just randomly drop right into the middle of the plate. Believe this happens mainly to help the directional batters out.
Any steal attempt, regardless of the lead, catcher, speed of the runner, results in a caught-stealing.
Deep fly balls that absolutely look like they are dropping, don't and anyone you have on base running get thrown out.
Speaking of runners on base. The most convoluted and happens WAY to often is when you have a couple guys on...you hit one deep..because of the very situation I mentioned in the last sentence you wait to see if it drops. When it does, you then start the runners...invariably they start running past each other on the bases ending in double and even triple plays.
