I really hate online play.

I really really do. A lot of things to get cards and to complete the programs you have to play online. Don't come at me with the whole "You can play conquest". I hate conquest as well hated it every since the show 17. I just played a few event games and I could just tell user input did not matter. My pitcher had a clean first inning then the very next inning he threw five straight balls. He walked the first guy but I wasn't trying to paint the corners I just wanted to throw strikes right in the zone and get the contact, But nope game wouldn't let me do that. Also my opponent pitcher was a walking my guys. I really felt the algorithm in that game where user input was non-existent for either of us. I don't think they would ever get online play right really wish there was another company that makes another baseball game.

Rng/dda has ruined every sports game on the market
-
I have enjoyed it somewhat more since I have gotten better at the game but there are some opponents who ruin it for me

I hate ranked seasons because of this. It feels like whoever has the weaker lineup gets the favored outcome. I played someone recently that had a losing record and .231 average. My average in ranked is .301. I had 16 dead or near dead center good/okays for outs and lost the game. I usually can tell early if I am going to lose when I start getting an obsessive amount of good/okay and my pitches float down the middle despite perfect input. It sucks because online play is my favorite but it's ruining it for me.

There are a ton of tell tale signs that show you will probably lose the game. If they don't exist, it is usually a very early quit for my opponent. If they are, I am either going to lose or it will be a dog fight.
Jumpy pci when hitting
Good/good+ rarely results in hits
Throw either down the middle or ball - jumpy pci when pitching
Opponents get hits on everything
Strikes on corners
Fielding blunders (quite a few different ones)
Base stealers get very poor jumps
Extra long or very slow returns when rounding a basePretty sure there are a few I am forgetting but when you see these signs it is best to cut bait and quit or you will get get frustrated and it is a complete waste of time. The ONLY way to win these games (which is possible) is if your opponent swings at balls outside the zone or can't hit pitches down the middle. Based on these, I can usually tell within the first 3 innings whether I am going to win. Game is extremely predictable if you pay attention to the signs.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who notices this. When I see I'm playing someone with a weaker line up and in the first 2 innings I know I'm probably not going to win the game. Lately for me the trend has been I scored the first run in the first inning, then I dominate on the pitching side and can't score more runs. Then the 4th inning comes around and somehow my pitcher gives up a hit, then there is an error then a home run then another hit. Then I warm up my bullpen because my starter threw 30 + pitches in the 4th inning alone. Then I'm just so pissed off I just log off.

I feel ya. I've been on a good winning trend lately, but the games are exhausting battling through the B.S.
I'm down to maybe 1-2 ranked games a week now. Which makes it harder to adjust back to the All-Star / HOF (sometimes) depending on who I play.
With we could use our God Squads in events where its more low key / shorter games.

Whilst I can’t argue against your summation I just wonder if the opponent is getting similar signs and if both players ever feel like they will lose the same game.

Sometimes I feel I'm playing on HOF and my opponent playing on all star they be hitting everything and alot of my pitches go straight down the middle.
This game is foolory. -
I played a ranked game recently where my opponents ryne sandberg was 4-4 with 3 late jammed hits and a go ahead bomb on a floating changeup in the 9th
-
You know what is sad, even with all the things that suck about online play and there are a lot of them, look at my history, do I even look like a RS fan? I actually hate moments and Showdown even more.
-
I can usually tell within the first three innings if the game is going my way or not. I either have 15 hits or three and those bad games my opponent has very late jam hits

I'm right there with you man. It's crazy awful how this game plays.

I'm an avg player at best.. been on a losing streak since getting to 790 range.. I just played a game against Maddox - and i think i Good/Good - Good/ok , or perfect line outs 80% of the time.. I only had 3 hits, and was 0-0 into the 12th... And then the baby cried, and priorities came up, and had to quit the game.. I was super frustrated, but I blame myself a bit, as it's not like Maddox is throwing heat and i can't time it even better than I was..

I'm sure. That is why there is no joy in this game. Game feels 100% connection based. I can assure you pitching rebel isn't going 250-20 at my house. I would bet my house on it and feel 100% confident that is a sure thing. It won't be fixed until they go to ping based match making which I don't see happening.
I know softball is ramping up again so I won't be playing as much. I wouldn't of even bought this if not for the pandemic. Also will more than likely be getting into Last of Us 2.

look the game plays poorly this year - its not the end of the world - you get to play videogames that is more of a luxury than the majority of ppl in the world
we all lose games but its how you handle your L's that define your character, especially on this forum too out of all places

I can't even make it into WildCard (I made DS in 2019, CS in 2018).
I think my over 50 reflexes are too slow to play this game competitively, even with a Gaming Monitor.
Continual lineouts and sharp ground balls when I get good contact. I just can't get enough "Perfect/Perfects" with my 94 to 99 hitters. Keep getting stuck in the 500's, I am a weak player...
