Nascar Heat 4 would be much better with Bo Jackson in it.

    Bo knows Nascar.

He is way overused in Madden so Ill be ok with out him.

Well he was a lot better at football....

I would argue he was more successful at mlb than NFL.

    2,782 career yards rushing
    16 touchdowns

    141 Homers and 415 RBI

    Umm no...

In football, he averaged 5.4 yards per carry, and was the most explosive running back anyone has ever seen. He had a very short career because of injury, but when he was on the field, he was one of the best.

In baseball, he played many more seasons, and was a .787 OPS (112 OPS+) hitter... Just above average..
He got on base barely over .300, and had a 32% strikeout rate....
Though he had loud tools, he had huge weaknesses..

Other than getting hurt, he had little weakness on the gridiron

That said, had he never played football and focused on baseball, I believe he could have had a Sammy Sosa type career without the roids

Ya I just said he had a more successful career in the mlb. Alot of RB's can roll off 2,782 yards in two seasons. 5.5 YPC is considered elite but he never had more than 950 yards in a season. He finished 10th in the AL mvp had 100 rbis and 30 home runs. That is a alot better than rushing for 950 yards.

He was splitting time with a HOFer in Marcus Allen. He had 173 attempts out of the teams 454. If he got the amount of attempts that people like AD, LT2, or Emmitt got, he wouldve had 2,000 easy

Could have should have would have... I your best season as a pro is 950 yards and 4td those are just ok. He was a freak athlete and he was more dominant when he was on the football field but he never had the type of success that he should have due to injury. He was a very productive baseball player. Im not knocking him, its him and Deion are the only dudes who could pull it off still to this day.

Please understand that your including post injury seasons into your calculations. Bo wasn’t the same existential player after he blew out his hip. He was just starting to realize his greatness when got hurt. The man was a 5 tool player. This community reveres Gallo, but Bo was beyond Gallo. Not only did he hit 500ft home runs, when they were unheard of, he threw dimes from the wall to home plate, and ran like the wind. Baseball didn’t have the Bo vs Boz freight train moment, but it did have moon shot all star game home run moment.

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Is more success predicated on playing longer at a slightly above average rate?
Or playing less at an elite rate?

The point I was making is he was more talented at football, which there really is no debate

Sure.. none of those things make him a valuable player day in day out. He made crazy athletic plays defensively, but wasn't a great defender... He had a .300 OBP. He struck out more than anyone during his time...
He accumulated a 7.7 fWAR in what accumulates to 5 full seasons...
Who cares if he hits 500 ft homeruns, if he does that once every 4 games and strikes out twice a game with less than a .300 OBP...

Whether he was better on the gridiron or the diamond doesn't matter to me. I'd just contend that Bo would've had a better-than-decent shot at Canton AND Cooperstown if it weren't for that serious hip injury.

Give him 15 mostly healthy seasons in both sports (averaging 13 gms/yr in NFL and 125 gms/yr in MLB) and he might've accomplished it. No doubt in my mind about Canton as he likely finishes north of 12,000 yds rushing with 100+ TDs & a highlight reel rivaled only by Barry Sanders. Cooperstown might've been tougher to crack since he struck out a ton (averaged 196 Ks/yr) and was only a .250 career hitter (not to mention playing a good portion of his career during the Steroid era). But he also averaged 33 HR and 19 SB (per 162-gm). That's 450+ HR and around 300 SB over 15 yrs. Bo might've had a career similar to Andre Dawson (HOF).

And if those 950 yards are on less attempts than even what Miles Sanders had last year? I think that illustrates how underutilized he was. Hell, that's less attempts than Lamar Jackson, a quarterback, had last year.

Sure, he prolly slows down on SB. But his HR would likely stay consistent (esp. during that era) and he prolly exceeds that HR pace given more exp/ABs.

Dawson isn't a great example because he never struck out... 14% K rate. Even less during his prime

Keep in mind too that he would always join the Raiders 6 or 7 weeks into their regular season because he had to wait for the baseball season to end. So between that AND splitting time in the backfield with Marcus Allen, those rushing stats and yards per carry are all the more impressive. Having watched the start of his career to the finish in both sports, I can attest he was much more dominant in football. He showed flashes of greatness in baseball but he never had the chance to develop it all the way.
