The check swinging in 19 is complete [censored]! You can clearly see 110% that you did not go over the plate while check swinging but 95% of the time they call a strike against you. Really hope they fix this issue for 20 cause like I said it’s complete [censored] and unrealistic

The check swing system works as they intended it. The problem is that what you see on the screen does not match up with what the game “sees”, and if SDS hasn’t figured that part out by now then I doubt that changes until PS5.

The call has NOTHING to do with what you see on the screen. The call is based on combination of hitter attributes like discipline, the type of swing you use (power, normal, or contact) and a virtual dice roll. Pitcher attributes such as k/9 and bb/9 may factor in, but I’m not sure. Once you realize this and ignore what you see on the screen, it will lead to less anger/annoyance and you can use it to your advantage.

If your opponent is successfully check swinging a lot, especially with guys that have lower discipline then you know they are contact swinging. Maybe bring the outfield in to prevent the “Ichiro bloop” from landing just beyond the infield. In that situation I also tend to mix up speeds within the zone a lot because they will either check swing on a called strike or hit it weakly somewhere.
