two reasons.
1- to lock the player on the ball
2- you can throw cancel. you won't need to 95% of the time because you should anticipate where the throw should go. Like in real baseball. Coach tells you "where are you going if the ball is hit to you?"Nobody on, ball to RF. RF should get the ball in to second on contact in case he doesn't catch it when in front of him. Pretty simple IMHO.

I agree with you in this particular play. But this Happens to often lately and not every play is a single to rf with no one on.
Regardless of you having the key to avoid outfielders issues like this, we need a better gameplay.

I'm finding the exact opposite.
Most of the nonsense of not locking in, has been resolved. There are issues at the wall with OF looking at the ball like it rolled through bantha poodu and nobody wants to pick it up.
The scenario you show though has not happened frequently for almost a month. Just my experience.

I just find it strange because it had never happened to me until last nigh. Since last night it has happened like 5 times.
The issue you mentioned is a plague.

I'm with you. I had one in CF where it was on a direct line and the ball bounced over my fielder's head. Like, really?
Also, the instances of balls bouncing over the walls for ground-rule doubles really needs to be toned down. Goes back to my comments a few weeks about everything being overproduced. Do balls bounce over the wall, sure. Does it happen 4 times a game? No. And I can't say I've seen two many instances where it bounces on grass over the wall (more often a warning track occurrence). Simply, a ball doesn't usually bounce off the grass and go over the wall that's like 5-10 feet away.

Don't want to nitpick, but you waited for the first bounce before trying to lock in and pre-load a throw. Internet lag could cause a snyc issue between you running at the ball and deciding to lock in. We all lock in by selecting a throw prior to the catch. This is a timing issue and not 100% the fault of SDS.
The animation didn't trigger, causing the player to run by the ball. If you need to pre-load your throw in order to trigger an animation, that's a poor mechanic. Of course, this isn't a poor mechanic, it's just broken. SDS has never once said that you need to pre-load a throw in order for your fielder to field a ball (because that would be completely nonsensical).
100% on SDS.

In fact, it just happened to my dad and I three times in 7 innings.

Field assist = on
Aren't you the same account that went 3-26 vs the CPU and had to start something over?
