CPU pitcher endurance

The sliders in showdown are really just inexcusable. At the hands of the cpu, breakout Robb Nen just pitched 5.2 innings in relief despite allowing two game tying home runs, a double off the top of the wall, and three other knocks.
Numerous pitches squared up in the middle of the pci went for good/ok or good/good outs.
Meanwhile, every time I homer to tie it, the next inning the cpu hits a no doubt bomb on a green release pitch from my reliever.
This is just bad.
Has anyone actually completed every mission on the way to a final boss? I am convinced now that the mode is designed to intervene if you complete too many.

Completed every mission multiple times. Getting tired of Showdown. Now I just skip to the end down 15-0 and get it done roughly 6 times outta ten
