@RazorForte45_XBL - Indeed. All attributes should be capped at 99, and those 99s should be given out more sparingly...
It would not change a single thing, because they would have to dial down the pitchers too (or ppl would complain about pitching being too dominant)

@YOSHI24_MLBTS, thank you - I was looking for that and couldn't find it... I think that gives a pretty good clue as to how out-of-whack the distribution of hits is. Almost twice as many HRs as doubles? 1.67B singles to 1.23B HRs?
In the regular MLB season in 2024, there were 5,456 HRs hit. There were 7,771 doubles, and a whopping 25,902 singles.
The ball barely hits the grass in this game, and I think people who actually like baseball might enjoy it more if it did.
Main problem: Shield woods and similar awful stadiums that are just a disgrace to this otherwise pretty good baseball sim. Unfortunately I could not find similar stats of the 23-game … But I highly doubt, it was this bad (e.g. too many Homeruns because too many a$$ stadiums)
EDIT: Just looked up a few of the top players of 24. Their HR-ratio is about 33%. That is nearly three times as high as the MLB-numbers of 2024 (13%). I tried to look up the stats of the games played at Coors, but I failed :). I do not think, they are that bad as in MLBTS24.
The only „data“ (and not personal guesses) we have is from SDS …. https://x.com/mlbtheshow/status/1869428253385220184?s=61&t=EHF_WX3TnZlVu7MUvxi8Ng
From that, 1/3 of the hits are HR
Just went 4-0 with the Mets … and the biggest thing (and takeaway) for me is: I just got my rank to an all-season-high … Biggest Takeaway: The best cards will not help if you cannot play … I played a ton against big god squads and gave them silver/gold pitchers (ok, bumped ones). I will definitely go „no flip“ in 2025, this is really fun and I can only encourage people to do Theme teams
tbh … I am finding games like crazy … xbox-only
asleep?

I keep getting disconnected in the middle of games causing me to lose. Is anyone else having this issue?
no, looks like your connection/Setup is not stable
@xRatedGProdigyx_PSN said in How to Save MLB The Show (In My Opinion):
Don't these types of players just load up on switch hitters now?
On average a typical god squad consists of 6-7 … I encountered a few all-switch-hitter-lineup recently. Most of them have at least 3 switch-hitters on the bench.
@TeakAUS_PSN I do not think that is the case (for both arguments). I face „under .500 players“ a lot since I play on All-Star a lot … Many of them have like 300+ games … and 95% play with the meta/god squad cards
@TeakAUS_PSN said in How to Save MLB The Show (In My Opinion):
Seems the easy solution is to allow us to set a lineup vs L and one vs R
The question you gotta ask is why does somebody want it? I would really love to know if Nolan Ryan is on the bump for my opponent … But on the other hand: it is much more fun not knowing and taking on the challenge, if I see it. If then I want to platoon … it is up to me.
@Belli_bomb_PSN said in How to Save MLB The Show (In My Opinion):
After each player picks their pitcher let us see them so we can make any lineup changes we want on the lineup screen instead of having to do it in game.
would be less fun … and some guys here told us, that it was in the game … being an awful thing, so it was dropped

It's the same for me. To top it off I can't pitch . I have trouble getting perfects on pin point and inevitably put it right down the middle . I don't know how my opponents get perfects on like 80% of their pitches . Absolute dots.
You gotta practice it in single player and really cocentrate. I do perfects over 90% of the time, but I worked hard being able to do it over the course of the game. Still, some pitchers do make it harder for me to… e.g. John Donaldson (and I do not know why)
@IrishFist412_MLBTS Same for me this year … As I get into the 700s, shield woods is appearing much more often. Since I do not make good enough/often contact, I lose those games more often than not.
Highest was 768 and that was when I had the Oakland A‘s Theme Team on for me :).
But, back-to-topic … Today I faced somebody with the Warren Spahn Captain … and Kenley „the call him Polanco“ Jansen won it for him my opponent … I still liked his team

It is not just 0.01% that’s using these cards. That’s hyperbole. But social media does tend to drastically overestimate the demand for using “different teams.” There’s a minority of the player base that enjoys changing their team up. The vast majority of the player base finds cards they like and use them. Sometimes it’s the meta cards, sometimes it isn’t. But people regularly changing their squad is not normal. Heck, for some people to do that, they’d spend most of their gaming time just in the squad screen.
I do also not think (not at all tbh) that people want to change their lineup. I kinda disagree that it is only „Find cards they like“, because then everybody likes the same cards :). I also disagree that social media demands lineup diversity. They demand for the big boys … all the time … every year
@bostondirtdog21_PSN said in 1/7/25 Captain drop - if anyone cares...:
To your point, I checked last night and under 300 people had the captains from December’s last drop to P1. So 99.99% of the players even playing still are not using them.
I’ve gone with your game plan of creating new teams and I have to say it’s been pretty fun. Just wish I was better because whether I use a Griffey Sr, Griffey Jr, hell even a Mike Griffey I’m striking out just the same lol
Glad you are having fun … I am feeling you. I lost 2 in a row with the Braves today and got so frustrated I have to take a day or two off because I was simply not seeing the ball well.
@TeakAUS_PSN said in 1/7/25 Captain drop - if anyone cares...:
This late in the season we should be getting cards too use on theme teams, not the captains themselves.
Why wasnt Lou Brock captain around when the content was current? Its more fun to get cards and think 'what captains will these work with' vs getting the captain at the end when there is nothing left to play for anyway.
Complaining about the past is not working … maybe this is a sign for content to come (in 25)?
We are getting new captains to check what cards will work for them, to build new teams nobody has done …
Again … I may only have 50 games in the last 20 days to base this on, but - as I mentioned in the theme team threads - close to nobody has used theme teams online during the core of this season nor right now (I also think that this forum is not a representation of what is out there)
95% of the player base is using god squads … all year (and that is exactly where the complaints about Sets&Seasons have come from) and there is maybe only 1 missing (from the set of cards we can expect) …
So, imo …. right move … spice it up a liiiitttle … the majority of player will only care if the „content“ is named 99 Elly de la Cruz. If that is not the case, „everybody“ is complaining. It may be a little over-exaggerated … but everybody can check for themselves, if he/she has encountered something way different (at least for ranked).
@The-Buddy9_XBL There is not but there is a 98 that is not too bad
Hey, nice seeing somebody else from this side of the planet (I am from Germany). I am not interested but I wanted to leave some advice:
