I finally fixed it. Did what I should've done after I lost connection for the third time in 5 minutes the first day it happened.

Delete the game and move on to greener pastures.

I won't envy you guys playing next year; when this happens MORE because if cross platforms.

as you don't play the game, many of us will continue to keep playing like normal - just remember that there are no drop outs when your connection is done properly - many of us have told you we have no issues - yet you seem to have issues
Many of you don't have issues; but I have seen people come on here stating that they DO have issues.

    Especially when content is dropped.

But I do have a question for you:

How come all night last night I was trying to get into DD buy EVERYTIME I tried I got a Server Error message.

Then I would play another game (Madden) and I would get right in.

I would play a full game, sign out, try to get in DD, either get a Server Error (or if I did manage to get in, within 15 secs I was dropped). Then I would log into Madden with no issues.

    Rinse and repeat.

So, if it IS my connection; then why does it only happens with this game?

Does this game need certain settings on my router to connect?

Probably not. The ONLY reason could be that the servers, on SDS's side, CAN'T support all the traffic.

That being said; it doesn't matter anymore as I'm done with the series.

I'd rather spend my time playing a game that I can actually play.

I do wish that those of you who haven't encountered these issues don't in the future.

But I'm telling you all that if they don't get better servers, when they game goes cross platform next year, it's going to be a $h1tshow!

Probably as bad, if not worse, than the issues they had with 17 when NOBODY could get online.

Spent the early part of the afternoon grinding out TN and Monthly Moments to get some players for the new US Event.

Was on from around 11am until 3pm with NO issues.

As soon as the Event dropped at 3pm and the 'hoardes' arrived; I suddenly had connection issues.

After 15 attempts to sign, I FINALLY get into DD.

Go into the Event and see that it's Quick Counts. QC is RIDICULOUS; but at least it's 6 innings.

Enter the game and my opponent's first three batters ALL come up to the plate with a 3-0 count! WTF!

I luck out and get out of the inning without allowing any runs.

AS SOON AS I'm up to bat; I get a [censored] 'Server Error' message and the game ends!

    Are you flipping kidding me!

Welp; guess if I want Belli, I'm buying him.

That is if I can ever get back into DD!

Don't even know if it's worth the hassel right now!

I had this garbage happen Sunday night and could not play at all. Yesterday I was able to play with that only happening a few times. Just signed on after getting home from work and getting the same mess. All other internet devices working fine and I can play other online games. Glad to hear I am not the only one who is experiencing this.

Queue the 'its your internet' crew in

Get rid of prestiege all together. The stat upgrade is not worth the hassle.

This. You grind for a card that you want to use and them after X amount of bats you get an upgraded one?
Thus leaving the original pretty much useless.

While I like the whole Prestige level addition; the cards that can be prestiged by playing with them is a bad idea.

    Almost as bad as Souvenirs

Easy fix: wait 3 seconds, hit X, hit pause, scroll over to quit, hit X again

Unfortunately that is only an easy fix if you happen to be the man child that can't finish out the play. If you're actually playing well and earning stats, you're at the mercy of the person on the other end.

You're never going to be able to stop immature people from throwing a temper tantrum and quitting out mid play. Even if Sony or SDS made it take longer to get out of the game via the software, these people would just yank the power cord out of the wall out of spite.

People bring up a time out or cool down period as a solution and I have mixed feelings on that, mostly because those people tend to go over the top and want it implemented for people quitting out normally. If I'm crushing an opponent 8-0 and they would rather cut their losses and try again in a fresh game, I have no problem with that. Time is limited and I get that. Let the ball land in the stands, and then go merrily on your way. No harm, no foul, and no reason for further punishment other than the loss of ranking or BR run. Even if a cool down period were only implemented for rage quits, those people aren't thinking rationally anyway and I doubt they would care. Nothing solved there.

The easiest solution would be for SDS to make HR stats track the second the ball makes contact since the game has already predetermined the outcome at that point. That seems to be the biggest issues for loss of prestige stats. If they can't figure out a way to make that work, then just don't require online play for stats. That's the easy fix.

Counting the homerun as soon as the ball makes contact won't work for the fact that depending on how hard it's hit; there is a small chance that it can be robbed.

Edit: nevermind. I didn't scroll down far enough.

Did you play a Conquest game vs the Orioles recently?

I've heard that sometimes when you enter a BR game, after playing a Conquest game, the game will auto lock that Conquest team's stadium.

You need to keep backing out of the Stadium Select screen u til it unlocks or restart exit our of the game and close the app.

  • Question about server types.
  • X xl--SPARKY--lx

@ChuckCLC said in Question about server types.:

For one, DL/UL speed doesnt help your connection. 10 down 2 up would be plenty. It is more about the quality of the connection and Ping.

Also the PS4 doesnt DL a large enough file to properly test your Download speed. That is why it is always lower than actual provided because it doesnt give it time to ramp up. Notice how fast it does it. They fixed this on PS5 though. It takes a lot longer to do the speed test and it shows an accurate DL and UL speed. The best way to see you speed on PS4 is actually to download a game, or a patch or something. Then you will see it running and the right speeds.

@xl-SPARKY-lx said in Question about server types.:

So, my question is this: if I am experiencing connection issues with this game, and none of the other games I play online, what's the problem?
Is it my connection? If so, why arent I disconneting from the other games servers?
If it was my PS4; wouldn't ALL the games I play be affected?

This is an answer we all would like to know lol.

Other than going into the consoles browser and checking my speed they a site like Speedtest.net; how would I check my PING?

Also, if a console can't correctly measure your UL/DL speed; how would it correctly measure your PING?

  • Question about server types.
  • X xl--SPARKY--lx

Recently had a conversation with another user on here and it got me thinking about the difference between a game that has dedicated servers compared to one that is peer to peer.

So, this game (MLB The Show) is played on peer to peer.

I assume that means that even though both players have to connect within SDS's servers; the person that is the home team is 'hosting'. Which could mean that any issues with connection is on there end. Am I assuming that correctly?
    .
And if so, could my connection issues be related to the bandwidth that the PSN servers can handle?

I pay good money for my internet because I need to for work.

My setup is 400/65. Direct connected, with a laptop, I can hit that speed.

Direct connected with the PS4; I can only hit 250-275. That tells me that either the PS4, or the servers through PSN, can't handle anything over that. Correct?

So, my question is this: if I am experiencing connection issues with this game, and none of the other games I play online, what's the problem?

Is it my connection? If so, why arent I disconneting from the other games servers?

If it was my PS4; wouldn't ALL the games I play be affected?

I doubt they would reply; but I would be interested to hear from someone @SDS about these issues.

They could just reverse the matchup procedure and it would fix the problem. Select your lineup and pitcher first, then select your stadium, then jump right into a game once you are matched up. No way to tell if you are home or away as no additional input would be needed.

    This is it

Pretty sure once people notice the 'lag'; they'll still back out.

As I stated in a previous post; the MAIN reason I back out of a game is that if I notice the 'lag' in moving my curser through my lineup; chances are it's a game where the other ayer is hosting (and a better chance of not know their connection credibility).

Until SDS gets servers that can handle the game's traffic, AND the 'glitches' associated with playing with the sun in your eyes; people will back out if they're not the home team.

Under this idea, there would be no way to notice lag, as you wouldn’t be matched up with a player until your lineup, pitcher and stadium was selected. The first time you’d know if you are home or away, you’d be in the loading screen and it would be too late to back out. No other input is required after setting lineups, pitcher and stadium, so no way to test for lag if done before matchup.

This game is hosted peer to peer by the home team, so you checking to see if a player is hosting is home hunting, whether that’s your intended goal or not.

Oh. I'll be 100% honest that I 'home hunt'.

And as I stated before; one reason is because if I playing an online game I want to make sure that the connection is as good as mine. I don't want matched up with someone who is in the middle of BFE and is playing on satellite or is using the neighbor's WiFi.

Second is because I don't want to play in an MLB stadiums that has latency issues and where I have to worry I'd the sun will be in 'my' eyes because people aren't comfortable enough to rely on their skill; so they compensate with exploits.

So, I'll reiterate. UNTIL SDS can get rid of exploits by limiting the stadium and time of day you can play, and finding a way to have better peer to peer connections; you'll have 'home hunting'.

@Ikasnu said in SDS, I have a solution for backing out of away games in RS:

The initial procedure is standard, select your stadium, find game....

After you see "Opponent Found" create a new screen that simply showcases your full roster. Once this screen appears both players "commit" to the game by pressing X. This then takes you to the pitcher select screen and all is normal.

The catch? Back out after you press X to commit and you lose 10-15 MMR.

The reason for seeing the entire roster is so players can be sure they didn't accidently go onto an RS game with say, a conquest team.

    Thoughts?

    MMR?

Isn't great that a player that has 4 MLB games under his belt, has a 1-1 record, and, a 5.02 ERA can get a card that out rates others who've player dthe game for years, have over 300 wins, and has a lower ERA.

Are you hard wired? I had good speeds with wi fi. I cand hard wire in because of where my router is. I was having constant disconnect losses in RS. I bought a netgear powerline and it has solved all my connection issues. If you are already hard wired in, this won't help you, but maybe it will help someone reading this.

Yes. Hardwired. And as I type.this I had ANOTHER server error. Fifth time within the last 12-18 hours.

What's so funny is I just came from playing a game of Madden not even 5 mins ago and it was fine.

Took 4 mins to get into DD and got kicked within 10 secs.
