It's not just an update.

Server maintenance shouldn’t take more than a few minutes, unless there’s a big issue. There should not be a big issue this far into the game cycle.

So maintenance also involve, server patches and updates. Maintenance is not just about game updates... it's also security, hardware, and behind the scene things that keep things smooth and our personal data safe.

Also, situations occur during updates that are unplanned, which suck when it affects people. So, sometimes it does take longer depending what maintenance is being done.

My first year. Servers always been this bad? As much money as they make I just don’t understand it. Are these attacks on their servers or just the lack of the servers to do what they are supposed to do? Man I’m in love with this game but if this continues. I’m going back to Madden only. Until an NCAA football game comes out. Madden sux and they hound their customers unlike SDS. Or at least it seems. Came here to get away and quickly got addicted. This is my first ever post on the servers but yeah it’s bad. I work upwards of 60 hours a week. I don’t have time to grind. If this continues. This will be my one and only MLB The Show. Being based on the west coast they probably haven’t even stepped into the office yet. My company would lose so much business if they handled situations like this. Well, like this. Anyway enough rambling because at the end of the day. Who really cares what we think? Later all

If you parallel a card, it is still applied to other areas in the game when you use that card.

Inside edge is also applied daily to all LS cards. This is true across all game modes as well.

Check swing is of course on you but your ability to do it well is affected by each hitter's rating.

Same with clutch, it's on you batting but his ability to make better contact in clutch situations is affected by his clutch rating making it easier for you to get a hit in the clutch

And vision which Lofton is also better, affects your ability to make contact rather then missing or better contact over minimal contact as the case may be.

Check swing could affect multiple at bats a game.
Clutch is going apply most every game, sometimes multiple times in a game.
Vision affects pretty much every at bat.

His arm will matter seldom, pretty much only when a runner is trying to score from second or tagging up on third on a fly ball, either of which happens what? Once every 20-30 games? 40 games?

So, you like Kenny Lofton because of things that are completely within your control, great! Good for you.

And Hamilton has been on my roster for 44 games and has 8 OF assists, so your assumption that an opportunity happens once every 20-40 games (way to hedge your bets by being very non-specific) is extremely incorrect.

So your entire OF in those 44 games has what? about 20 assists? lol

If Hamilton does have that many assists then it means you clearly have no pitchers AND don't know how to pitch because you must have an absolutely insane # of baserunners. Every game, every inning.

I have Trout on my team (and he's tier 4) for 122 games and he has 1 assist. And that's playing primarily all-star difficultly in all modes.
Seriously dude do you give up at least 2 baserunners an inning? lol

I've mentioned a similar idea in years past. I suggested a tiered, passive rating mod that rewards more rating points per win and a lower rating penalty per loss for a team depending on the mod amount. I may be misinterpreting what you're saying, but this reads like you're saying that people should be "rewarded" for using lesser teams, even if they are up against a god squad? I don't know that I care for that idea, because the competitive balance is just so off unless you're really good with mediocre players. (I'm not, except for Jonathon Villar and Eric Thames for some reason).

I'd rather see something that encourages team and competitive balance. Instead of the Orioles vs the Yankees, you'd get something more akin to the Indians vs. the White Sox.

So rewarding ranked victories with extra points and lower penalties for losses using a non-god squad doesn't encourage team balance? I think a passive rating mod is the right solution for the existing ranked format without needing a separate ranked mode that would further dilute match making. In terms of competitive balance, we actually need to see less of it. The RNG kills the gameplay and devalues user input

I could actually live with this in some shape or form. I think you’d need to have them use all silvers or all golds or whatever though to gain a bonus ranking % for a win. If someone’s good enough to come out there and win with silvers against my team of 99s, they should get a bonus. Even though a lot of silver and even bronze cards can be effective hitters this year, they suffer huge penalties defensively more often than not. There’s a clear difference between fielding weak defenders and elite defenders this year more than years past. This would prevent skilled hitters from loading up with low overall power hitters and diamond pitchers, then slugging their way to WS in short order.

Great ideas. I also felt it was kind of lazy and pointless for a player to get both a Prospect and FS card. They were rarely remarkably different enough to warrant.

I thought Evolution was going to be the return of Rookie to Prime, but it kind of fizzled out and went nowhere after the first few weeks, which was odd.

SDS doesn’t care, they have made the curveball, change up , 2 seam and splitter utterly useless in the game. It’s about money

One of my favorite players to use in the game. Lead off hitter who does everything offensively.

Same for me, I use strike zone high view. Which has really helped me lay off pitches low. However the high fastballs seem unhittable. ESP anything over 100. So I just recently started playing with strike zone 2 and regular strike zone. So far the high strikes don’t seem so high.

I will say comeback logic is real, vs CPU at least. Do a showdown and skip to final 0-15, everything drops for a hit and the computer makes errors and manhandles lots of balls. As soon as you get within 3 or 4, even with the pitcher having no confidence left all of a sudden well hit balls are snagged and diving plays made. It's eye opening. And really not a bad way to attack showdowns just skip to the end because they let you catch up and kill the confidence meter in the process.

Well first off I'm terrible at the Stage 1 division showdowns. I've yet to complete one successfully. I've done each of the inning showdowns and starter though. I've skipped to the final 3 times for AL East vs Cole, finished tied 15-15, L 12-15, and L 11-15... I know a better player that tried it who knocks down showdowns alot, he won the AL West 1st try.

So for me, i came the closest i ever did. Other guy 1 for 1.

Give it a go, you'll be shocked at the amount of hits that fall for you and watch the CPU make errors which never happens in those.

That'd be 3K stubs on 3 attempts that you put zero effort into gaining any sort of advantage for yourself. Then you're relying on what you call "Comeback logic," which apparently works to allow you to get close...then...turns on you?

Then game more or less allows a high chance of hits falling and a higher chance of the CPU committing errors when you are grossly behind. The CPU booted 3 balls in the first 5 hitters one game, which would never happen in a typical close game. Also, keto in mind those runs are scored with a lineup of silver and bronze players.

If you don't think the game could do this you're kidding yourself because there's literally a perk in showdown for greater chance of computer error. (Which i did not have equipped.)

It's hard to pick a Future Star on team that is so young and mostly not ready to face MLB competition.

I will not lie...I looked at every other team's depth chart and top 30 prospects. I didn't even consider doing that for the Marlins...I was just like...well...this guy got us Yelich, so he'll do.

At least you didn't pick the "headliner" from the Trade, Lewis Brinson.

Stearns is great. He's pretty much stolen some great seasons from other teams for about nothing: Yelich, Hader, Shaw, Aguilar...He's so much better than Doug Melvin who would sign old has been pitchers to 4 year deals and traded Carlos Lee and Nelson Cruz for a closer and a handful of replacement players.

Considering we got Lee for Scott Podsednik and a reliever, it wasnt that terrible. CoCo was good for us. I hated that we gave up Cruz in that deal though. I kept mentioning to others how good he was but all i kept hearing was that he strikes out too much. It was too bad he had to go in the deal.

Cordero was for sure solid, but we gave up Lee and Cruz (who, fairly wasn't seen as a blue chip) and got...Kevin Mench? Laynce Nix? Feels like there was somebody else that wasn't all that useful in that trade.

I'll give Melvin some credit for Sabathia, though. Hard to believe Michael Brantley was a PTBNL in that deal.

But Suppan, Garza, Lohse...ugh...

Mench was coming off back to back 25 HR seasons and he was looking to get a power bat back, so it made sense. Obviously, it didnt work out in the end. Nix was a former prospect that some thought could eventually come good in the right situation. He was the kind of guy that might be given a 92 diamond future star card by SDS, lol.

I don’t recall Mench ever being very good...let alone having 2 25 homer seasons, so that’s fair.

I remember one time Mench hit like 9 homers in 7 games or something.. other than that, what a forgettable dude

I done with the game for a few days. I’m tired of check swings not being called strikes, foul ball parades and the very late jammed hits. Oh and perfect pitch release going down the middle. So a few day break and I’ll probably play it on Monday

I went division by division starting with the National League. I think it makes more sense to do it by league, because if you're doing the AL and NL at the same time, you're missing out on stubs that can help you out.

Since I finished the NL, I got 10k stubs for getting Sheffield, which isn't a lot, but it's not nothing either.
